alexis smith has been tracking this. some progress but still slow?> reporter: yes, and this happened a couple of moments ago. 880, with sky 11 overhead. it looks like the actual semi-jack knifed and the trailer flipped oefrmt it was twoeed away. they're sweeping up some of the absorbing agent. looks like a fuel spill as well. there's the result. we have about seven, 7 1/2 miles of heavy traffic like this as you see on sky seven. that's the northbound that crash happened at the 5th avenue on ramp. we're back in the green for everybody else this morning and starting to dry out. there you go. that was the crash location on the south end of lake merritt but still crawling, about eight miles an hour. that's about a seven-mile backup from san leandro. heavy traffic on westbound 580, 22 miles an hour. if you have to choose between the two, i would definitely stick with 580. >> alexis, thanks so much. work is underway in san francisco to remove a broken piece of equipment that caused a concrete slab to lean atop a high rise under construction. sky seven flew

get you through your commute with alexis smith our traffic reporter, by 4:00 in the afternoon, it's not widespread activity. we're unsettled throughout the day. and then into early friday, another wave of moisture moves in. more downpours will be developing in the early morning hours, that will lead to another unsettled afternoon friday, and friday afternoon too, there is a chance of an isolated thundershower popping up. the theme the next couple days is the wet weather returning. the santa cruz mountains, 1 to 2 inches is likely, on the lee ward side of the mountains, you know this all too well, the south bay much less than that, i think a lot of spots a quarter inch of rain. >> through the heart of the region, san francisco opening concord, about a quarter to an inch of rain, we have the winds to contend with, a kwind advisory will go into effect in a little over 30 minutes, listing until friday morning. that means that wind could gust near 40 to 50 miles an hour, the threat is there for downed trees and power outages. moderate for ponding on roads. small creek flooding is potentially

we've jessica castro here, good morning, alexis smith tracking the roads and mike nicco bringing us goodews although there is a flood warning right now. >> i almost forgot how to smile when talking about the weather because it's been so destructive lately but we do have a flood warning, still for mark west creek, but as we've been talking about all morning, it keeps receding. it's below flood stage, flood stage is 55, we're now down to 54.3 but the national weather service is going to keep that flood warning up until 8:15 this morning. here's a look at some of those showers we talked about. they're along the coast. they're going to fall apart by 10:00 and it's a little bit of a breeze out over the open water and some of our bridges this morning and that breeze is going to keep us chilled. a little bit cooler than average, 30s and 40s this morning, low to mid 50s at 4:00 but soak up all that lovely sunshine. do we have deserve a break on the roads? i think we have one. >>> that's a crazy question. of course we do. you're not going to get us thereto bay bridge toll plaza. it has been reall

let's go straight to alexis smith with this. >>> i'll show you where this is on our traffic map. northbound 880 right at the 5th avenue off ramp. two right lanes are closed. two left lanes are getting by. they did have the off ramp closed as well. they were able to get that back open. this is a sig alert. this is likely going to be blocking for most of the morning and there we go as we zoom out just a bit, you're up to a three-mile backup. 580 wide open at this point in the morning. i don't think it's going to stay that way but that's your best bet for an alternate right now and chp says it's okay, big rigs can use that as well. in fact, we heard that one of the tow trucks on the way to the scene is coming all the way from stockton so this is going to be a long-term situation. live look outside it is soggy, likely contributing factor to that crash. you can take a look at that there. let's check in with mike nicco now with a look at the rest of the forecast. >>> it's downpours that are really catching people off guard because they're very sporadic and very quick and causing pondin
