because the water always comes down, like down on alhambra. it was -- oh, boy. >> it was flowing pretty good. >> yeah. and it goes down to the beaver creek down here. >> reporter: now, we have spoken to a couple residents who say minor flooding like this isn't totally out of the ordinary for martinez. it is in a low-lying area but it has been several years since residents and businesses have seen water flowing through the streets the way it did last night. taking a look at alhambra creek which is just below us, very different from the picture that you saw from last night where the water was up to the base of the bridge. it has subsided quite a bit. although you can see a lot of the mud where the water, gushing water pushed the silt and the mud through this area. but martinez -- the city of martinez has several sand bagging stations open, four sand bagging stations. they were open long before the storms hit. they remain open to businesses and residents. we're waiting to hear back from the public works department to find out if they have done an

this giant sink hole opened up on alhambra county road in pinole. >> a new slide on highway 17 stopped traffic. at one point, both southbound lanes were shut down. on monday, the northbound lanes were shut down by a big slide. >> busy highway 37 is closed in novato tonight. 24 hours after novato creek flooded during heavy rains. as you can see, several drivers ended up abandoning their cars in the water. caltrans says 37,000 vehicles crossed highway 37 on a typical day. tonight it is closed from highway 101 to atherton avenue. >> reporter: julie, if you take a look behind me, you can still see that high water here on highway 37. those three abandons vehicles, still out here, stranded by it that high water. the chp tells me it was the proverbial perfect storm that shut down highway 37. normally busy, flood waters have left it empty. from sky fox the damage is clear. the problem started with a report of water on the roadway. >> flooding started on the westbound side, and has now crept across. >> reporter: the chp shut it down between 101 -- statement, the king tide pushed water up from t
