allie rasmus is on her way there. she will have a live report on everything as soon as she gets there. >>> developing news now from oakland, one firefighter is in the hospital after responding to an overnight house fire. that happened just after 2:00 this morning on 23rd avenue near east 17th street. ktvu's jade hernandez is there this morning with more on the firefighter's injury and the damage left behind. good morning, jade. >> reporter: good morning, pam. we can tell you the firefighter went to the hospital for precautionary measures. we are live at east 17th and 23rd avenue this morning, and we can show you and give you a better view of the damage this morning. you can see firefighters where that light is, they're looking for hot spots. we've learned two families live inside of this retrofitted victorian. nine people live in that upstairs portion, five people live downstairs, only eight people were home this morning when this fire broke out. we spoke to one of the residents who said that the smoke alarm saved his

we've been following it from the air, now we join allie rasmus who is there on the ground. allie, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, pam, it appears firefighters are now getting a handle on this fire. if you look behind us, this is the building we're talking about. this is the kappa sigma fraternity near the san jose state university campus. and you can see that there are no longer these big orange flames shooting from the roof of the building. there are three area ladders pointing their water hoses directly onto the building. we saw a little bit of smoke a short time ago. let's show you what it looks like live right now from overhead in news chopper 2. there is a lot of damage to this building, but you can see the flames for the most part seem to have been put out, and at this point they're kind of shooting water on some of those hot spots and making sure nothing flares up again. now, there were 75 firefighters working this fire at one point. san jose fire department had to call for mutual aid from santa clarita because this -- santaclara, you can see from the picture

allie rasmus talked to family members and police about what happened. >> reporter: according to police, the violence began with a fight between five people in the walnut creek car wash. a third person had cuts on his arms. lenny fox owns the car wash where it happens. he says four of the five men involved in the brawl are either current or former employees, included two brothers. one of those brothers has worked with him for 15 years. they do their work. they are all great ploys -- employees. >> the owner wouldn't let us see the video but he described what it shows. he says in the picture you can see the two brothers sitting in their parked car. then you see three men hop over this apartment wall. >> they all went at it and all collided. as far as the video shows, yeah, there was three guys that were coming at them. they did not run. they confronted them. >> reporter: walnut creek police will look into the self- defense theory. >> we'll interview as many people as we can to see if there is a valid claim. ultimately, the district attorney's office will make that decision. >> reporter: p

allie rasmus has just spoken to the bay area woman who originally filed the lawsuit and joins us live from oakland with her reaction. >> reporter: well, theer to -- well, tori, the woman said she is disappointed but she's not giving up. the woman she had represented, 3400 women across the country, claiming they were saturday to workplace discrimination because of their gender. this class-action lawsuit could have affected 1 million female employees. it all started ten years ago with this woman. betty dukes worked as a greeter at walmart. she and other female walmart employees filed the suit against walmart in 2001. duke's name is the first name listed in the suit. over the past decade, walmart has tried to block the suit from going forward. and today, walmart finally gone. walmart said because the suit came from many different stores, regions, states and managerrers that hired them, there -- managers, -- they ruled that way many of the women involved said they will continue their fight. although they won't be able to be in a class-action lawsuit, they will sue in smaller groups. >> bu

ktvu's allie rasmus live now with details we just found out. and also what one of the suspects wives' is saying. good morning, allie. >> reporter: good morning, dave. walnut creek police arrested two men early this morning in connection with the stabbing that happened in this car wash parking lot. the car wash is on north main street. just 15 minutes ago we saw walnut creek police pull up to this apartment building here behind us. and that is because one of the two men arrested lives in this building. i had a chance to speak with the wife of one of the two men arrested. the two people arrested. the wife says she didn't want to appear on camera but she says what she believes is that her husband told her three men tried to beat him up in this parking lot. and she thinks that he acted in self-defense. she also explained that he had parked his car in this car wash parking lot because there was no more space in the apartment building lot. now this car wash parking lot is where police say a fight broke out involving several men. it happened around 9:0

ktvu's allie rasmus has the details on this violent incident in what is usually a very quiet community. allie. >> reporter: well, pam, this is where that stabbing happened. this is the car wash where we're at. it's on a major thoroughfare. right next to this car wash is an apartment building. there were some residents in this building who contacted police last night to report hearing some sort of fight or dispute going on between a group of men in the car wash parking lot. now that fight ended with two people stabbed and seriously wounded. the stabbing happened around 9:00 last night. ambulances arrived at the scene and rushed two victims to local hospitals. they were both in critical condition when they arrived. meanwhile at the crime scene police roped off the area. they started to collect evidence and begin to search for suspects. witnesses reported seeing two men running from the car wash parking lot. shortly after that stabbing happened. right now police don't have a description of those suspects. but we have tried to reach some of the overnight sergeants with walnut creek police

allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 7:06. overnight in concord, firefighters stayed on the scene of a grass fire to make sure it did not reignite. the fire broke out around 11:00 on discovery way near the concord com1 campus. crews managed to put ott the flames. no structures burned but some homes were threatened for a short time. dry grass helped fuel the fire. still no word on what caused the fire. but neighbors say they heard fireworks go off just before the fire ignited. >>> oakland police are asking people to stay alert after two robberies, the first robbery happened yesterday morning around 11:00 on hanover and brooklyn. the victims were robbed of a gold chain and a purse. the suspects were driving a four-door white vehicle with moderate damage to the rear. about an hour and a half later, another gold chain was stolen near 7th avenue and east 18th streets. the suspects in that robbery were driving a silver nissan. >>> roger rickman was arrested after the mother of a 7-year- old girl called the police. the girl told her

allie rasmus is live with a closer look at the video. >> reporter: good morning. i've been checking in with los angeles police since 5:00 this morning to try to find out what, if any, impact this new video could have on the bryan stow beating. the officer i've been speaking with say so far police have not had a chance to take a good look at the video. according to tmz, it was released just after midnight. the video was taken from inside dodger stadium on march 31st. in the video you can see a man in a dodgers' jersey standing up and arguing with stow. stow is seated object left and -- on the left and he appears to be trying to calm stow down. while stow was at dodgers stadium, he sent a text to his friends about a hostile atmosphere. this man in the video in the dodgers' jersey is not the same person arrested for the crime. that person is giovanni ramirez. ramirez has said repeatedly police have the wrong man and that he was not there the day stow was beaten. but the police say they are confident that stow was one of the men responsible for the beating. now stow's

allie rasmus tells us now they have hired a private investigator. porter: good morning, david. michelle le and her family live here in san mateo. at though the search for her is focused in the hayward area where she was last seen. michelle le's family has done a lot to try to find her. they organized volunteer search parties. they have posted these fliers. they put up a $65,000 reward. and now ray trey taken a new step. they have hired a private investigator to look for her. that private investigator comes from a firm called the frame group. michelle le was last seen on may 27th. she stepped out of a nursing class during a break and never returned. since then, hundreds of volunteers have combed through parts of the east bay. an friday they were in niles canyon. on friday and saturday they went through neighborhoods. the family hasn't let us know if that search turned up anything significant. hayward police are investigating michelle le's disappearance as a homicide. michelle says they have seen no evidence of that and they will continue to look for h

allie rasmus is live with more. >> reporter: that fraternity house is on 11th street. right here behind me you can see some of the firefighters are packing up to clear the scene. later on, it will be the work of the investigators to go inside the building to figure out what exactly started this fire. now, firefighters started gaining control of this fire and within the last hour we've seen them shut the hoses off and get ready to pack up and leave. the building where this started, this fire started here at this house, just after 3:00 this morning. newschopper2 was overhead after the fire broke out. >>> at 4:00 this morning, the firefighters called for aid. shortly after they arrived, firefighter also to go outside the building and tackle it from the outside. as the fire spread through the building, it just became too dangerous to fight the fire from inside. the department gave us these pictures of what it looked like inside the burning building before they got out. the firefighter explained some of the challenges. after you hear from him, you 4 hear from the fraternity
