ayman?liams. as pete was mentioning, robert mueller must get up to speed on the fbi's russian investigation. law enforcement officials tell nbc news that former trump aides flynn and manafort are the key figures in that probe. those officials say two men are formally considered subjects of a criminal investigation, though their lawyers say they have done nothing wrong. a subject is someone whose conduct is being examined by the investigation and may be suspected of a crime. officials say multiple grand jury subpoenas and records requests have been issued within the past six months. a new report says trump partnered with a russian canadian developer who received millions in funding from a bank run by the russian government. he received $850 million for his share in a ukrainian steelmaker in 2010. some of that money was injected into the trump toronto project which was financially troubled. his attorney initially put the figure at $15 million but later said he could not confirm the amount. at

you two parties trying to redefine the relationship right now. >> cole kel nell jacobs, one thing ayman mentioned is this big formal announcement. it's a $100 billion arms deal with saudi arabia. how will that affect the balance in the region? >> positively from our standpoint. you know, there's been this battle in the region between iran and saudi arabia. it's been going on for a long time. and talking about $100 billion. it's liable to meet many times that if the saudis have their way. $00, maybe $300 billion or more. we're very much concerned that the capital ships the saw dudis have in the region, 25, 30 years old. they're not capable. the iranians have land-based anti-cruise missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles. they tested out their own navy to go down as far as southern africa. they would like to control the choke points at the persian gulf, which would make it extremely difficult for the world economy and for us and for saudi arabia. so, it is supposed to change the balance of power in a positive way. not only ships but helicopters, cruise missiles and other munitions. not all wi

"the washington post" reports the president was calling lawmakers right up until the vote began.
