it's really going to wind up and send some stiff winds into d.c., baltimore, philly, new york city and long island. even into boston, winter weather advisories. for the cape, winter storm warnings. this is a pretty extensive winter storm. a lot of heavy snow kentucky, d.c. and baltimore, they could see two feet of snow. to the west in the mountains there, above 30 inches of snow possible. for us, notice the leading edge of this winter storm creeping up toward carroll county, into tuscarawas county. not all of this reaching the ground but it's light snow and flurries, that would be about it, reaching up toward the canton area. i can't rule out a flurry even along the shoreline. but that northeasterly flow could be a tiny bit of flurry activity. 24 ellie i can't, lower and middle 20s just about everywhere you go. let's pull up ravenna. 22 degrees on the thermometer. courthouse temperature 22. a dew point of 13. right now winds are pretty light. there you go. it's all about the chill for us here in northern ohio. a northeast breeze along the lakeshore. with a dew point of 10 so very dry a

that would include washington, baltimore, and philly. new york, perhaps near the northern edge of the heavy snow as well as the south coast of new england. but notice that would not be in boston as depicted here. here's another computer model showing you that early saturday, we see the snow around new york city and long island and it starts to lift northward along the south coast of new england. also notice that around the cape, there might be enough mild ocean air to create a mix but then we'll see just how far north it gets from here. this model doesn't get much further north. others bring at least the northern edge into boston. to summarize, if we get a closer pass, then we have the potential for some heavy snow and strong winds but a pass more to the south leaning more that way, then we're only near the northern edge, not as much wind or snow. but i do want to let you know, you could possibly have a situation where we don't get much in the way of snow but wind and coastal concerns with the tides being somewhat astronomically high this weekend

it is still forecast to target d.c., baltimore, philly and new york city. really the hardest. they'll be measuring that snow in feet and already getting reports and seeing a report as high as 15 inches out of all the way down into north carolina five inches of snow. the mountains of west virginia, over 15 inches of snow. you can see the snow comes up into virginia. they've had or the lynchburg area around seven inches of snow. these are more reports. they're just getting going across new jersey, atlantic city just so far up over three inches of snow. down. you can see the blizzard warnings still in effect from d.c., philly on up to new york. those blizzard warnings extend now all the way up toward martha's vineyard where the wind and the snow may combine to reduce that visibility to less and a quarter of a mile for at least three hours. that's the criteria that needs to be met. we have the winter storm warnings here and also the winter weather advisories. notice this is all really focused south of the pike in southeastern massachusetts. that is really where the greatest impact

for east coast cities like baltimore, philly, d.c. and new york, the work to get back to normal resumed today. city officials are warning people to stay off the roads so they can continue to clear things up. early estimates say this storm could cost between $350 million and $700 million, which includes lost wages, lost revenue, and cleaning the snow. not as many cancellations in and out of orlando international airport today a day, after more than 100 were halted because of that bad weather. nbc' s kristen dahlgren reports on how some of the busiest airports in the nation are reporter: from laguardia where there is a lot more activity than there has been over the past few days, but is for a lot of people. going on at the runways. we are still seeing 30% of flights canceled today nationwide. flights canceled. airports and airlines trying desperately to get back to normal. this is a difficult task for them. when you think about it, more than 12,000 flights canceled sense of friday, and today, that is a lot of travelers that need to get rebooked and

baltimore. there you see philly and new york city as well. well over two feet of snow in new york city. around here not as much. on the cape we did get over a foot in east falmouth. on the vineyard, of course, 15 inches there. the amounts dropped off the closer you got to boston. even in the city there were ocean enhancements so we did get six inches of snow. you can see the amounts on cape. mashpee 10.5 inches. sandwich a foot. parts of south coastal massachusetts and also plymouth you can see about 10 inches of snow there. farther north that you went but for this season now in boston, we're up over 10 inches. pretty similar to where we were last yee at this point but still behind average today which is about 20 inches of snow. we're shutting the snow machine off for the next few days anyway. 24 in worcester right now. it is 28 in boston. we have dropped to the teens in plymouth. there are some 20's on cape cod. it's pretty quiet morning. winds are generally under 10 miles per hour so no big wind chills as you're stepping tout door this morning but there are patchy clouds that are work

if you've travelled the 95 corridor, new york city south, philly, baltimore, d.c.in particular, you may want to rethink the travel plans especially friday afternoon friday night because this is coming. then once it comes off the mid atlantic coastline where does it go? track one or track two. track one would brig significant snow and wind up in new england. that would lead to coastal flooding. track 2 would still bring snow to southern new england northern edge. it would be manageable amounts of snow we would have to contend with but the track itself would be farther away but it's something we'll watch. again i don't think we can lock the track in until sometime probably tomorrow or better yet even on thursday. potential storm is there. if you have plans in southern new england on saturday, at this time i would keep them. restaurant reservations saturday night don't cancel them. not yet. the risk of snow is going to be there at this time. doesn't lock like a block buster in southern new england. we'll keep you updated. >> ryan: a little boy riding high in new york. his hometown working
