tam: mission bay was once a bay. it was an inlet of the bay. it was marshy and brackish and kind of shallow. mission bay is finally getting built after many, many years of planning and agreements around infrastructure. there are some really important institutions that are there now, new commercial buildings, as well. it's an area that is rapidly becoming a part of the urban fabric of san francisco where it really was once seen as, like, a strange and unoccupied place, but, because we planned it in an era before we were thinking of sea level rise, it's also very low-lying, and it's one of the city's more vulnerable places to future sea level rise. scholl: the problem is that the land is so valuable because it's now land. development companies couldn't not build there. there were billions of dollars in real estate to be had, but they built it in probably one of the worst places they could have. it was a bay in the past, and it most likely will be a bay in the future. tam: we picked this part of the shoreline for a study around design concepts for

not over the bay bridge and not over most of the bay. i will show you where the clouds are. we have a unique way of looking at that. its been fairly clear. it doesn't have too big of an impact unless you are on the immediate coast where you may encounter low clouds and not much fog on the road. all the visibility is fine. it is warmer. it's mainly 50s out there right now. santa rosa the one location in the mid-40s. everybody else is looking at the low to mid-50s with fairly clear skies. as we use that high resolution preview on where the low clouds, the marine layer stratus will fill in the bay we are starting to see it creep across the west half of the city, the peninsula, it has the in extent. and it'll grow m this takes us ahead to 7:00 and we are kind of see that classic marine layer filling the bay. most other places aren't looking at anything. then it melts back to the coast where it'll stay. it'll be more blue sky unless are you at the beach. now it gets more interesting. by the late this afternoon and evening it creeps back in. then it takes over most of the inside o

we have a lot of sunshine around the bay area, and the north bay.ans take you along the coastline, enjoying the views, we are in the low 70s. we started out at 50. will reach 66. it is breezy along the coast. on sunday, we are in the upper 70s. in the bay area, will see a wide range of temperatures. if you are in san francisco, we are in the upper 60s. for napa and san jose, it will reach into the low and mid 80s. this all just depends on where you are. make sure you have your jacket in the backseat. this morning, you are planning the commute for us now. >> you can see that bay bridge toll plaza. cars are moving better. the deal is, we had a disabled vehicle at treasure island. that has cleared. keep in mind, all morning, and into the evening, we have traffic in the city. you did mention the giants game. that is at 7:15 at oracle park. over the chase center, they have the warriors game. you can watch the giants on tv if you have a ticket for either game. you can flip back and forth. i hear the warriors will be televised as well. we can save you from

nbc bay area. this sound really unsettling. >> reporter: good morning to you, marcus. it is. these arrests or these arson suspects come as fire departments here in contra costa county and throughout the rest of the bay area for that matter are gearing up for what is expected to be a tough fire season during the ongoing drought. over a 48-hour period earlier this week investigators say four people set over 30 fires in contra costa county, in concord along highway 4, extending to hillcrest park in antioch. contra costa county fire tells us that all the fires were immediately adjacent to neighborhoods and businesses, but what we know so far, none were damaged or destroyed. >> it sucks. you know, he's putting everybody in danger. look at, that's fuel, straight fuel on the ground. >> reporter: the fire department says one of the four departments arrested was on the radar screen and this suspect accused of setting six of those fires. law enforcement found him on saturday in hillcrest park, they tased him

in the south bay. man is dead after being hit by a work truck in home construction site. >> again, this is in san jose happened just before 8 yesterday morning at a house near willow. glen high school, san jose pd says someone was driving a work truck. in fact, was backing up into the driveway the time to unload supplies when they hit a bmw pop. the curb went over the grass and ended up hitting that contractor. pinning him between the rear of his truck and a car that was parked in the driveway. police say the man died at a local hospital. they say the driver did stay on scene. didn't impair to be impaired, but there are still investigating. a new crime fighting app is launching here in the bay area today. it's called bodyguard and it's sort of like an uber for security services were you can hire on demand security to help you get from point a to point b safely. the app creator says he started working on it after seeing the countless attacks against the ap. i community. and this is just some of the file

around the bay. we're looking at the san mateo bridge next. and from here, we can see our highway. 92 right is moving well. and an update now on that. >> traffic alert that was on southbound 8.80, at tennis and the couple vehicles got tangled up, blocking all lanes for a time. they were able to reopen all with the left lane in our last update. and now it looks as though they've been able to completely reopen the roadway. so that alert has been canceled, although just to the south of that, there is another accident on i-80, but that one looks like it's just a minor single-vehicle accident. looks like a car crashed into the center divide. so you got the number one lane blocked. this is southbound 8.80, just north of dixon landing road as you're heading down between fremont and milpitas. so just know that that's there. but traffic sitting around at the seams fairly fine. the west bound 5, 80 right at the richmond, sandra fell bridge. also uneventful at this early hour. pretty much what you'd expect at 4

for the bay area, it will stay dry. brentwood goes from triple digit temperatures to highs in the 70s for the weekend. that is going to be so much nicer. even for memorial day we look at temperatures in the low 80s, and then had for the low 90s by the middle of next week. we are looking at some egg swings in our temperatures, but the heat is still with us today, it will back off tomorrow and we will see highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. this will continue through the weekend, sun and clouds, and gusty wind. memorial day highs are in the 80s while san francisco will see highs in the 70s, and 60s in the forecast with gusty winds. mike, what is the app date? >> look over toward the bay bridge, there were reports of crashes. do you see these two lights? they may be involved, moving to the parking lot on the right. on the top left, the approach is just fine. see the 3-d map here? it is oriented in the same direction. in san rafael, there is a disabled big rig, just around lincoln. the right lanes may be affected by the dis
