meteorologist bill henley has a look at that in his first alert forecast. bill? >> it is a frigid start this morning. temperatures were cold yesterday with wind blowing, but they've gone lower this morning, and the wind is still blowing. look at this live view from center city. the winds are not as strong as yesterday, but that being said, we're still seeing wind gusts of more than 20 miles an hour in the area. and the temperatures, right now it's 23 in philadelphia, but pottstown, allentown, reading all at 20 degrees. 12 degrees in the pocono mountains. the areas closest to record territory, mt. pocono and reading and philadelphia. two to three degrees away from a record this morning. factor in the wind, and it feels even colder. 9 right now the windchill for trenton, pottstown and allentown, feels like 12 in wilmington and millville. so, stand by for a very cold morning. bundle up if you have to spend any time outside. the windchill will be a factor through the morning. 29 degrees at lunchtime today. back in less than ten minutes with a future weather. we'll go

air is already creeping into the northern plains right now, and nbc 10 first alert meteorologist bill henley is going to tell us that that is actually part of the same system that will make things colder here this week. >> right. tell us about the timing of that, bill. >> later this week is when we'll start to feel the cold. it's cold this morning, but the real cold doesn't arrive until thursday and friday. and friday morning, we could have some snowflakes in our area, the first of the season. right now, things are cold with clear skies, 38 degrees in philadelphia. we're running ten degrees colder than yesterday at this time, but we are completely dry. i don't expect any precipitation today. and a nice warm-up this afternoon. we will see lots of sunshine. but you can see the colder air reflected in the snow that is falling across the northern tier, and that cold air is going to be pushing across the country. we'll really feel it later this week. today we're getting a cold start with the dry air, but a quick warm-up by 10:00 this morning, near 50 degrees. and then up to 60 degrees this aftern
