now montgomery county, julie carey on the scene of a murder in aspen hill area. >> reporter: one young man is dead and montgomery police have a wide scale search under way for the man they believe is his killer. police called to the 13200 block of superior street around 3:20 this afternoon. inside a home, they found one young man dead of a gunshot wound, another young man was there with him and a third young man, the map believed to be the suspect, had fled the scene. police now have a manhunt under way for that gunman. they have helicopters overhead and they called in other police agencies to help them in this search. they have been stopping many young people in the area, questioning them, taking their photographs, trying to find out anything they can about this killing that happened this afternoon and trying to find that gunman. they have a description as well. the gunman is described as an hispanic male, 5'6", heavy set, he was last seen wearing a navy blue north face jacket exlight blue jeanses and black timberland boots. all the commotion has brought a lot of neighbors out to the

julie carey is live with that story. >> reporter: well, for years the merrifield area of fairfax county has been better none for its gridlock intersections like here and for its odd assortment of businesses from industrial to retail but merrifield could soon become a destination in fairfax county because of the brand new project called the mosaic urban district. it's been a decade in the making but the transformation of merrifield is now well under way. the county approved a redevelopmen plan for a town center back in 2002 to make better use of a location just blocks from the dunn loring metro. >> whenever i go out to community meetings that is one of the first questions i am asked, what's happening in merrifield? when is the town center going to open? >> reporter: this is what's emerged. its developer edens is creating what they call an urban district. >> when we started this process ten years ago, we visited a hundred different places and we determined we wanted to create a place that was unlike any other in the country. and to do that, we needed a merchandise mix that reflected that
