and that rain is on the move, now in center city. we're seeing it fall in the area, just some light rain falling on 30th street station right now. if you look closely, you can see the flags in front of the train station that are blowing in winds that are gusting to 24 miles an hour. the radar shows the steady, light rain has just moved into philadelphia, but we're still tracking heavy downpours right along the jersey coastline. central new jersey, toms river, stafford is seeing heavy rainfall. most of the heavy rain and thunderstorm activity is offshore, but there are some heavy downpours in parts of new castle county and into new jersey, salem county. we've seen some thunder and lightning there as well. it's part of a system that has some areas damp and others dry. allentown has seen no rainfall yet and it's dried out in cape may after some early showers. it's going to be on and off during the day today. and then it is going to keep temperatures pretty steady. right now it's 57 degrees in philadelphia. nobody's cold. we're in the 50

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in center city for us this morning.ow are riders reacting to the threat this morning? >> reporter: well, they're concerned, vai, but hopeful that something will come of this, that there will be a resolution relatively soon. but i'll tell you, the union leadership now has the ability to decide a date and time as to when a strike could happen. now, twu local 234 represents 4,700 bus operateors, trolley operators and also the subway services. the union has been working without a contract since march. both the union and septa each say they are working towards a resolution, but union president willie brown says to continue working without a contract is simply unfair to the workers. septa says if a strike should happen, a service interruption plan would go into effect, but riders i've been talking with say any interruption at all would be a big problem. what would you do without it? >> i'd be home. because i work a long ways. i work all over the city. sometimes i'm going out to norristown, sometimes to delaware. it's going to
