let's start out with meteorologist christina loren, how hot will we get? >> 108 degrees, scott and laura. that's antioch, but i can tell you, we haven't seen that so far this summer. the next couple days, although we will drop temperatures considerably tomorrow, especially at the coast, we are going to stay above average. and so, the dog days of summer, which we were able to bypass until now, have officially arrived here in the bay area. and we are waking up nice and mild. you know what, even though we're going to see the hottest temperatures inland, my main concern this morning is for people in san francisco who don't have air conditioners, same for those along the peninsula. you want to the make sure you are aware of the fact that it's going to be mild overnight. temperatures this morning in the 60s, tomorrow morning, we're expecting these numbers to be in the 70s. it's going to be a balmy night. we will shave like i said, five to ten degrees off your highs from today as we get into tomorrow. we're not going to be in the oe pressive heat for much longer.

meteorologist christina loren monitoring the weather conditions in that area. but let's begin with "today in the bay's" bob redell, live from the command post. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. you can't see behind me, but a mile behind me on a rigid where the fire's burning in napa county. we expect numbers that you mentioned earlier to change, that they probably changed overnight. we'll get a better sense when the sun comes up and they fly over the fire and get a better sense of how much it's grown. even at 2700 acres, this is one of the largest fires state has seen in several weeks. it's believed the fire started around noon yesterday, near butts canyon road, aetna springs. some young men clearing weeds using a metal blade and that accidentally caused the fire to ignite. with this area being in a drought it just took off. the area so dry, you don't normally see dry conditions until august or september. here we are already seeing them at the very beginning of july. what's difficult for firefighters, their main challenge this area is

let's check the forecast with meteorologist christina loren, good morning. >> hey good morning to you. new day begins, thursday, so close to the weekend now, and we've got some really great changes coming your way in the weather department. looking at the bay bridge this morning, which you can see from top to bottom. we have some low clouds overhead. as we head throughout the day though, the big weather story, not as sticky. i think a lot of people are going to be happy about that. we will take you through your weekend forecast in just a few moments, right now though let's say good morning to mike. >> good morning, roads not sticky either. we are looking towards oakland, 880 past the coliseum, easy drive. construction crews through san leandro. lose a lane, maybe two south of davis. 88, 580, we also do have a little more construction as you head through downtown. tonight, the second game for at&t park, a's versus giants, midday game, there's going to be traffic there. no problem right now. we're expecting a late morning commute to build up after things ease off after the morning commu

meteorologist christina loren is joining us now. should we be super concerned about that lightning? >> no. don't cancel your plans but stay on guard. what we're dealing with, though, is not very organized and it's hard to pinpoint exactly where the moisture is going to end up. right now all of the activity is well to our south. it's kind of creeping in at a snail's pace but we're getting our first showers here in the bay area at this hour. the western-facing slopes around san jose and also a little bit of activity here just over the delta. as we head throughout the day today, the clouds will increase. same over sunol. and as that cloud cover continues to get thicker, you might see the cumulus clouds build up. if you do over your neighborhood, you may have a chance for rm tthunderstorms. we're talking about a 20% showers and 10% chance for isolated thunderstorms. it's very rare but we like you to know about everything that could possibly happen. temperatures are still pretty mild. although, i have to tell you, we have a heat index factor to talk about. 68 in san carlos. it feels more

jerks. >>> let's check in with a softy and christina loren. >> good morning. those marshmallows aren't very aerodynamic, are they? a great day shaping up, especially if you live inland. hot days to get through earlier in the week. as of today, as of right this minute, we are actually running about 2 to 6 degrees cooler across the board. temperatures right now really comfortable for your outdoor plans everywhere. and look at this, we're at 57 degrees still in half moon bay. the reason why is we've got those clouds clinging to the coastal mountains. i want to show you what it looks like right now. mild at ocean beach. meanwhile, we are completely sunny here in san jose. a lot of sunshine, our air quality has had a little bit of rejuvenation overnight, courtesy of that stronger onshore flow. you can see what's left of the cloud cover over the east shore. enough there to keep your temperatures in the upper 60s for today. we'll hit 64 in san francisco, 86 degrees is the forecasted high for the north bay, where you're socked in with fog at this point, in tiburon. 82

supposed to be one of the hottest days of the year, so let's talk to meteorologist christina loren. a real scorcher. >> a real scorcher, scott. and i can tell you, these temperatures are on track at this point to really live up to that prediction. we are really expecting the hottest temperatures of the year. and let me show you, just to give you a little idea of what's going on. 59-hour difference. we're 9 degrees warmer at this hour than we were yesterday in livermore. and temperatures out here are going to get into the 105 degree range today. it's definitely one of those days, you want to try to limit your outdoor activity, especially between the hours of 12 and 5. those are the hottest times. and i just want to show you, just kind of stack things up across the state for us. san francisco is at 85 degrees today. we're going to be warmer than los angeles, warmer than san diego. they'll be at 77. and even warmer than a place you're very well acquainted, 78 degrees in chicago. now, i can tell you, we are going to take these temperatures down a touch as we head through tomorrow, but n
