storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell joins us with what we can expect next. >> in it all morning and it didn't add up to much in most locations. i haven't seen single report of any more than 1.7 inches of snow. that was the big winner down in saint mary's county. most in the immediate metropolitan area didn't even get that much. snow totals so far today, still getting a little accumulation although i don't think it will add up to another tenth or 2/10 inch. an inch and a half in callaway maryland. half inch toward checksapeake and diehl. some numbers may grow even though we won't see a lot more accumulating snow. some numbers might go up a bit as numbers continue to come in. not much left. the winter weather advisory remains for prince charles, saint march ip at parts under the eastern shore as well until 1:00 in prince georges, 3:00 in southern maryland and out on into the eastern shore. most of the snow is starting to come to an end. the treated roads are absolutely fine. some of the and side streets are a little slippery. be careful if you're going outside later this afternoon or

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell joins us now with his first forecast. good morning, chuck. >> good morning, everybody. don't be fooled by the sunshine out there. cold air is overrunning the mid-atlantic. this will lead to our first legitimate chance of maybe an inch of snow in the downtown washington area by tomorrow at this same time. here's our official forecast map. maybe up to an inch in the metro area. maybe a couple of inches out to the north and west. this is not going to be a major storm. but it might have aairly large impact on your day tomorrow. as due to the timing. it could interfere the second half of the rush hour tomorrow morning into tomorrow afternoon. storm team 4 radar for now is all clear in the metro. light snow showers drifting through on the cold northwesterly winds. temperatures in the mid to upper 30s to around 40 right now are going nowhere for the rest of the day. in your whether to wear category, your hat, your gloves sunglasses all of it to help bundle up. sunglasses will trend ever downward below freezing. cold air, more of

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell joins us with his first forecast. . >> good morning, barbara and good morning, everybody. plenty of clouds around this morning. even a few lonesome ray showers and isolated snow showers as well this morning. here's the view from the tower looking southbound. you can still see littl shafts of light rain trying to get to the ground. most evaporateing before it gets from the clouds to the grass. nonetheless, seen a weak wave of low pressure go by that's wrung out a couple raindrops and twitter followers in damascus said it was snowing a brief time an hour or so ago. that pink area between damascus where we had a little bit of light snow. not enough to cove the ground but conversational snowflakes to say the least, all running southeast-bound and drying up as it goes. see the general trend on improving weather picture for us. as a result a cloudy start now. temperatures in the 40s. most neighborhoods, and getting more and more clearing as the afternoon goes along and as a result tempera the upper 40s. breezy at times. more

coming down harder along braddock mountain and off to our west out near leesburg which is where chuck bell joins us live. sticking to any of the roads now, chuck? >> reporter: good morning, tom. we have seen snow out here ever since we passed dulles airport about 25 or 30 minutes ago and it's light to at times briefly moderate snow out here. the snowflakes are small to medium in size just yet and the ground in leesburg starting to take on a little hint of that first coating of white. some of the snow on the side of the roads was here from before but you can totally tell that there are fresh snowflakes starting to add up on the especially. you can tell the treated surfaces and main roads certainly not having troubles yet but the sidewalks and side streets and the staircases are all going to be icing over first. you'll need to be extra careful on your way out and about for the rest of the afternoon. looks like we could solidly get an inch to maybe two inches of snow out here in loudoun county. we'll keep you posted. drive around the city of leesburg. if you see us give us a friendly wave. ba

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell is live outside on the weather deck. >> aaron and eun, good morning to you guys. we have been driving around all morning. most of the main roads are fine but the secondary streets are absolutely snow covered. it is not a lot of snow. i have any pat collins snow stick right here. the snowfall amounts so far only in the tenth to quarter an inch. not a lot of snow just yet. we are expecting on average an inch to two inches farther to the north and west of downtown washington. still light snow here in town. and there are very small powdery flakes right now to tell me it's a dry snow indeed. so we should have success getting all the roads treated around here. we are not looking for a lot of snow but the roads are cold enough to hold it. any untreated roads, particularly the on-ramps and off-ramps, overpasses and bridges, any exposed surface like that will be slippery sooner than the main roads. but if you're in your neighborhood you may want to be careful. out on the main roads, keep it slow and steady. they always win the rac

storm team 4 meteorologist chuck bell is driving 66 with more on the conditions. chuck, how is it going out there? >> reporter: well, eun, we are still on the westbound side of the road where traffic is very light. on the opposite side of the median eastbound traffic is moving at a snail's pace. we are on i-66 near the manassas exit. exit to 47 is the one we just passed. exit 44 is the one right in front of us. that's the prince william county parkway. so this is a very long slow drive for everybody going back into town this morning. you're going to want to leave extra early if you can because the roads out here are, even though they are treated, they are definitely snow covered right now and on the slippery side. we have seen quite a few cars split out into the medians around here. i tweeted out the pictures. there's -- oh yeah the guy we were just passing on the right-hand side just slid off the road. so you really need to take it easy. folks in pickup trucks often feel invincible because they are driving a truck and will do just fine. but without slowing down yo
