citrus, hernando and pasco county more consistent rain. polk, highlands, hardee desoto very light drizzle. now, we are seeing a little bit heavier rain coming off the gulf of mexico right now in pinellas county, western hillsborough and actually quite warm compared to yesterday. we're about 10 degrees warmer in the mid 60s. it's all because of this area of low pressure coming out of the gulf of mexico. it's bringing in the dreary conditions. i'll keep it rather wet through about 8:00 this morning. as this area of low pressure crossing over us we start getting that moisture pull off the gulf of mexico. there will be a few clouds and showers just not as consistent during the afternoon. despite the clouds today still a high of 76. in weather and traffic on the 8s i have an 8-day temperature trend which drastically changes. >>> first you have to get out the door on a friday. >> that's right. i noticed on the radar in the north port area a bit rainy and that's where we've an accident with injuries involved. let's take a look at what's going on

now we're upper 30s in inverness and low 40s across the majority of citrus county. so certainly an improvement in comfort this morning with 50 degrees in tampa. st. pete at 54. bartow 48. we'll be topping out at 67 degrees today in tampa. tomorrow a little bit warmer even with lows on target with average and the high tomorrow pretty close to average. we'll see more cloud cover building in late in the day on thursday. even some rain overnight ahead of this next front that is going to move through. i'm calling this a front, really it's an area of low pressure that is going to work across the gulf but does have a front associated with it. first the warm front passes us, keeping our temperatures in the 70s. then a very weak cool front drags behind it so we don't have a cold push of air behind this system. but what we will get, a wet morning commute most likely and some heavy downpours during that time frame and we're also watching for a slight chance that we could see an isolated storm develop. i think most of us are just going to hear a couple of rumbles of thunder and

but it is moving into citrus county right now. so in the next half hour, it will move across pinnelas and hillsborough. and we're looking at rainfall that is coming down at a rate of an inch to an inch per half an hour into carolwood and west chase area. and it will pool on our bridges. this is a big line that is offshore that is going to move across the area. we'll get anywhere of an inch and a half to two inches of an hour. the gusty winds have been up to 30 miles an hour. this line could bring the winds coming down. that is a sign of weakening. but it is a strong line of storms. so we'll that through the next couple hours. and what are you seeing? >>> tim is is on our live drive this mobile. so you may consider using kennedy as an alternate to some of the backups that we're seeing on 275 northbound due to the lane shifts. this is what is looks like on the howard frankland. and the cars stacking up there and 30 minutes across the howard frankland. and we're still watching this crash on i40 westbound before you get to i-75. they

your drive time to downtown southern counties around citrus, desoto or highlands county. that is where the clouds are a bit thicker and there's showers close by that are moving across south florida. but otherwise we're off to a dry start to the day. so you don't have to worry about any wet roads across tampa bay. again it's just the southern counties, you may see light rain or at some point later today. the big news, the temperatures out there this morning. and most of them in the 40s but we have some temperatures in the 30s across citrus and hernando county, and close to freezing in some areas. so that's why we have that freeze warning in place. we may see another freeze warning or -- go into effect overnight tonight and those same places around citrus and hernando counties so be aware of that. bring in the plants and pets and bundle up the kids. temperatures remain below average through to thursday. then on friday we've got this stronger chance of rain, 70% coverage, we're looking at the slight chance for a potentially severe storm on friday. again, there's no guarantee

as we head into tomorrow, another chilly start in citrus county and hernando county in the 30s and 40s. around the bay area i think we'll see 50s show up at day break looking to start tampa's temperature at 50 degrees. i'm expecting winds to turn east. as soon as we take out the northerly component for the wind it should allow for more in the way of a warm up. about 70 for a high temperature. we'll likely briefly get there. the 60s. and mostly cloudy skies. if you live by the water or thinking of taking the day off 15 knots. on to friday. i think saturday would be a how to think about and approach friday. first half of the day frequent lightning and heavy rainfall and wind gusts topping 45 to 65 miles per hour. this will come with a storm that is in intensifying as it crosses the gulf. that means our tornado and water spout threat will be there. it doesn't look like a high threat. but a tomorrow or two where we see a tornado warning or brief tornado is possible. in the mix starting around 5:00 a.m. friday morning, some of the strongest storms coming across in the morning commute. somet

counties tomorrow night. tuesday night a freeze watch posted for citrus and hernando counties, pretty much the entire tampa bay area into at least the 30s. we are tracking our next storm system, still a couple days away. most of this week will be quiet. but by friday we are tracking our next area of low pressure moving in to give us a chance of storms. we'll watch that closely for you. by next weekend, chilly forecast as we see another cooldown. also going on, the gasparilla children's parade, always fun. this year it's looking dry but cool, topping out near 60 and it will be breezy. so currently just a few clouds around, no rain across the entire state of florida. a very large area of high pressure has built in across the central u.s. and you can see this is keeping things quiet across the southeast, much of the central u.s., just tracking a little snow up in michigan this afternoon. temperatures for us, below average. average for this time of year is about 70 degrees. you can see a lot of us are in the low 60s, even 50s in places, 59 in ruskin and 60 in wimauma. so cool temperatures around but take a look at
