that means that it's less likely for a driver to see those crosswalks. and i'm also going to say that if you take a look at some of the seniors pictures you will notice that they'll be looking down. so they're not able to quickly, easily look to the left or the right, to see an oncoming car. i'm just going to suggest accelerate the monitoring and the painting of crosswalks. there should be more broadly painted crosswalks but somebody has to monitor those to make sure that they stay highly visible for one thing. beyond that, why can't there be more red light cameras if that is still a feasible alternative. why can't there be acceleration of the numbers of intersections that have the walking speed slow down. i'm surging things that already -- suggesting things that are already in process that could be sped up to make it safer while these studies are going on. that's still -- i still consider that bold and innovative. don't throw away what has been working. thank you. >> supervisor yee: san itch lee here? -- sanich lee here? no. anyone from sun can? go ahea

the north crosswalk. those details are given to us within a week. once we have combined the office study with the field study and the information that we get from the police department we'll make recommendations whether they be short term quick fixes such as fixing things that need to be repaired or adjusting things that may need a little bit more work. and all the way down to long-term capital projects that may require finding funding or finding additional resources to execute. we also work with other agencies. a couple of the fatalities that we'll talk about are right-of-way and so we work with the state department and caltrans, and sometimes there's lighting issues and issues that they help us with. so it's collaborative and very coordinated and making sure this gets the highest attention from all relevant parties. the first crash that i wanted to mention was the crash that happened at rice and san jose on a state route. this is a short highway that is on the caltrans restriction though it's a city str

and then, failure to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk. the thing that was very glaringly obvious to us in talking with my investigators was the amount of seniors that were in crosswalks that were contacted. they told me when they looked at the cases -- and there's a significant amount -- there's 44 cases between 2014 and 2018, but the one thing that was obvious to them was the left -- left-hand turn, which has always been a conversation with the vision zero partnerships, is that that has been one of the larger causes of these collisions, and so concentrating and looking at that is important. and then, i added fatalities by age groups. so the range, we broke it into 65 years and older. there are 13, 70 years and older, 16; 80, 14; and then, 90, 1. and then, females are 20 victims, and males, 24. and then, the time comparison that -- that the supervisors requested, this is the breakdown. obviously, after midnight, there aren't a lot of collisions. i believe there's just one, but it's obvious that at 13, between 9:00 in the morning and 12:00

at the intersection, so cyclists can use that crosswalk and then access. there's two green boxes to navigate that intersection which has bike lanes on most of the legs. this is the cross sections for san bruno avenue. this change is pretty simple. the existing southbound lane on san bruno intersection is extremely wide and we can just narrow that down it a minimum of ten feet and add a bike lane with a buffer and it doesn't change any parking on that street. so for drivers, the changes they would notice are the lane reduction on alemany boulevard from three lanes in each direction, to two. the project does include adjustments to the traffic signal timing along alemany boulevard to minimize traffic delay from that change. and two right-turn on reds would be prohibited at the alemany boulevard and bayshore boulevard intersection, we saw a second ago, to accommodate those two left-turn bike paths where cyclists would be waiting in front of the right turn lanes. as i mentioned, on san bruno avenue, just one of the lanes would get narrower, the muni bus route 8
