darcie spencer joins us now live from hillcrest heights with details. darcie? >> reporter: police were called here to fairlawn street here in hillcrest heights this evening for a report of shots fired. when they got here, they realized this was not a shooting, they say two teenaged boys have been assaulted. they suffered facial injuries, they are expected to be okay. a woman who came here to the scene indicating she knew one of the victims said that there had been some kind of altercation. there is a carnival taking place right across the street from here at the iverson mall. police are investigating to see if there is a connection. earlier this evening, prince georges police web with the to a double shooting on terrace lane. it wasn't very far from this scene. that was not connected to this assault. one woman was pronounced dead inside an apartment there, there was a second woman shot in the leg, she was somehow able to make it to a nearby liquor store where she reported the crime. >> what we were able to find out preliminarily at this point is that we had two

news4's darcy spencer joins us now live from the first district police station in southwest washington where police have just finished a news conference. darcy? >> reporter: well, chris, yeah, lieutenant with the homicide branch finished that briefing. as you said, this involves two marines. one marine is the victim of this fatal stabbing. the other marine is a suspect and he's in custody. he's been charged with murder. now, police are also indicating that the suspect apparently made some sort of homophobic remark prior to the stabbing. that's all part of this investigation. now this all happened around 2:40 this morning in the 700 block of ace street in southeast washington. that's near the marine corps barracks. we are told there was some sort of argument that happened on the street. that remark was made, the homophobic remark was made and then the victim was stabbed. now, the victim has been identified as 23-year-old philip bushong of camp lejeune, north carolina. that's where he's based, but apparently, he's getting ready to be released or was getting ready to be released from the

darcy spencer has our report. >> reporter: you may have heard of national harbor or even rosecroft raceway as possible sites for a casino in prince george's county. but chances are you haven't heard about the so-called third option, casino largo. it would be built at the boulevard of the cap center in largo. a lot of people haven't heard about that. why not? >> well, it's a great question. we certainly try hard. we've been active throughout the session, the regular session, to communicate our location. >> reporter: charles hopkins who grew up in suitland and is a local minority business owner is proposing a casino with # 4750 slot machines and 117 table games. the casino would have 5,000 parking spaces on top of the building. he says the project is shovel ready and could be up and running quickly. >> we feel that the positives of our location would be very compelling from a development perspective and that we'd be extremely competitive with the other two offerings. >> reporter: the developer says the largo location would be ideal. it's very close to metro and has easy access to the beltway

darcy spencer reports from district heights. >> reporter: about 10:00 friday night, shots rang out at this apartment on northwest drive in adelphi sending three people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. >> from an investigation, it revealed this resulted from a domestic incident. we do believe that the suspect is known to the victims. >> reporter: the triple shooting touched off a weekend of gunfire that left eight victims shot. three of them died. about 12:30 saturday morning, 19-year-old lester flores of alexandria was found shot to death in the 2000 block of woodbury street in louisville. on saturday night, two women were shot. one woman died, one was shot in the leg. >> apparently one went into the liquor store, found an off-duty sheriff who assisted this victim. >> the latest incident happened in the 2300 block of judith avenue in district heights. police say several people were inside the home when a dispute broke out. two men were shot, one died. the other suffered non-life threatening injuries. what did you hear out here? did you hear any shots? >> no, i didn'
