news4 darcy spencer is in northwest d.c.h word that some patients could be let in later tonight. >> reporter: that's right. i'm standing across street from howard university hospital. you can see the emergency room right there with a man standing next to it. temp r remains closed that hour but we're told they will begin to accept walk in patients only in about 45 minutes. an early morning flood at howard university hospital forced the er to close. ambulances had to drive patients to other hospitals in the city. a d.c. fire and ems spokesman said. department worked with emergency communications to coordinate the ambulances. and where they would go. and everything went smoothly. >> i just hope that, you know, they can fix it. you got patients in there. other than that, you know, pretty good hospital. >> reporter:o land gentlem o ly came to howard university hospital for a doctor's appointment. they went in only to be turned away. the water main break was in the basement of the building. that's the critical care area. surgeries

news4's darcy spencer is at that scene with the latest on that. darcy? >> reporter: hi, doreen.e are on maryland avenue on the southwest side of the capitol. we're basically in a holding pattern as police wait to search what we believe is the suspect's pickup truck. you can take a look here. this is the truck. it is parked in a permit parking lot only right next to the reflecting pool. the capitol building is off to my right and then the botanical gardens. that's where this truck is parked. police have been out here for the last couple hours. you can see u.s. capitol police officers have surrounded the truck. tric maryland avenue. joggers and walkers are still able to come through this area, so it's not a complete shutdown. they are keeping people away from the truck, about a 20-foot distance, and keeping an eye on it, but we believe they are waiting for a search warrant in order to get inside this truck and see if there's any evidence inside that could lead them to the suspect, also any evidence in connection with why he entered that building today, sort of what was the motivat

darcy spencer is in landover with reaction from a man who lives close to the crime scene. >> reporter: wendy, that stabbing happened right here in this apartment building early this morning. police late this afternoon released her identity and i have confirmed this watis domestic related. neighbors tell me she had just moved in recently. it was inside this apartment building on 75th avenue where two women were stabbed. one of them later died. she's been identified as 23-year-old santa lizama. this man lives above their apartment. >> they just moved in like two or three months ago. >> reporter: he and other neighbors had to stay inside their apartments for hours while police investigated. he said it appeared one of the victims had tried to get help. so the you're on the fourth floor? >> yes. >> reporter: but there was blood on the fourth floor? >> i guess she went to go knock on doors. >> reporter: so she was probably seeking help? >> yeah, seeking help. >> reporter: did you hear her? >> nothing. >> reporter: the stabbings happened at the overlook garden apartments just down the road f
