. >>> it has been weeks since harry thomas junior resigned from dc council and pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. >> leaders from the youth organization that much of the money was supposed to support will go before a council committee. melanie alnwick is live with details. >> reporter: good morning allison. the chairman of the hearing is councilmember jim graham he has a lot of questions about just how this happened how was harry thomas junior able to steal essentially $350,000 in city funds graham wants to make sure there are new procedures in place to make sure this doesn't happen again t 51-year-old pled guilty in january, to federal theft and tax charges from april 2007 to february 2009 thomas used his influence as city councilmember to steal money that was ear marked for the arts youth recreation and summer programs the money was funneled from the children and youth investment trust corporation to two entities thomas set up for personal use councilmember jim graham wants to hear from officials at that invested trust corporation about their checks and balance
