this is meteorologist, doug kammerer, by the way. we are watching this storm system as it makes its way out. to the north of the washington area, you have seen the clearing. now, the storms are developing. >> this is a picture of the severe weather we are seeing. this is route 15 near the zion area. if you look closely, that is damage to that particular rooftop of the house. again, we are seeing very strong winds coming through with these cells. strong winds and the potential they are dropping some tornadoes. right now, we are watching the one cell in culpeper northeast. >> again, that tornado watch is in effect for the entire area until 11:00 tonight. it doesn't include all of northern virginia. it includes maryland including prince george's county. the district is included in that. we'll watch the watches and warnings. we were watching this develop yesterday. we were watching the system to the south creating upper level low pressure area making its way over. we were talking about the potential of sunshine today. any sunshine we rec

doug? >> you know, it's amazing to think we are in october, not even toward halloween and talking the first winter storm of the season making its way over our area. take a look. first off, we are looking at temperatures around 49 degrees. we are on the mild side considering we have a storm moving our way. we are 10 to 15 degrees below average. winds at 7 miles per hour. doppler radar not showing much around the district. you have to go out to the west and southwest to see any form of rain. that's what it is for the most part. it is rain. most of it is not hitting the ground. snow in portions of west virginia and the high lands of virginia. we are going to continue to watch as the storm system continues to develop off the coast and makes its presence known. look at that. 42 degrees by 11:00. it is going to be raining. the rain will be heavy at times. this is what you can expect. heavy snow, mostly snow to the west. area of rain to snow closer to the district. this will be mostly rain and win

what about it, doug? >> some areas are going to see a lot of snow from this, especially this early in the season. those of us along i-95 and to the east, this is a mainly rain event. they will see a nasty saturday with a lot of rain. one to two inches of rain. winds 30 to 40 miles per hour. chilly, cold temperatures. 49 degrees is the current temperature with winds out of the east at 10 mirpsz. not much going on on the radar. showers back into petersburg and virginia suburbs. look at this. it is snowing in portions of west virginia and the higher elevations of the blue ridge. we are seeing the rain make its way toward the area. the rain will change the snow to the west. we are going to see very bad conditions. i mean, point-blank, it is going to be nasty tomorrow. the rain moving in around 9:00. dropping to 42 at 11:00. 41 by 5:00 a.m. with a heavy rain. this is for most of the region. it points off to the south and east. what to expect from this storm. here you go. mostly snow. i think it will start off

let's begin with chief meteorologist, doug kammerer to show who is under a warning. doug, you warned us of this on wednesday. >> you mentioned we have not seen snow in this area since 1979. we had a third of an inch of snow at the airport. officially, i wasn't born yet. that's not true. what is true, is we have snow making our way. don't think we are trying to fool you. a lot of people are saying this is too early. mother nature says it is, too. 48 degrees now with winds out of the east-southeast at 6 miles per hour. we are seeing some rain across the area and some snow in the viewing area toward west virginia and hardy county. seeing snow around the petersburg area. most of the rain is not affecting us. you can see it moving up from the south and west. the coastal storm has yet to develop and will develop overnight tonight. we'll continue to watch as it does. rain moves in at 9:00 in the area. tomorrow morning, raining heavily in places. 41 degrees at 5:00 a.m. we'll see snow to the west. that snow will come down fairly quickly. mostly snow in portions of west virgi

let's go to doug kammerer. what is the latest? >> we do have accumulating snow out in the west of hardy county, west virginia. the high areas of the mountains in west virginia and chester gap right here we have snow upwards of 2 inches already. and you can see the rain moving through too. the temperatures are falling and so is the rainfall around the washington, d.c. area frederick reporting rain. but is it snow in the higher elevations in the blue ridge and moving back to the west. so we are going to see that snow build in throughout evening hours and just about everybody to the west of washington is under a warning or advisory. in the pink that is a winter storm warning for snowfall that could exceed 4 to 5 inches. in the purple this is a winter weather advisory. we could see accumulation in that area too. i just updated the snowfall map. i'll show you who i think gets what coming up. >> thanks, doug. >>> out in minnesota you see snowplows all the time before halloween. but not around here. snow pants either. who buys snow pants

>> thanks, doug. >>> there are new developments in the lemon case. john schriffen is live at the montgomery courthouse with more from today's hearing. john? >> reporter: pat, good evening. the defense filed a motion to essentially not allow the jurors to see a critical piece of evidence. the judge decided today, that video which showed the suspect talking with her brother about what happened, that video will be played in court. if you are not familiar with this case, this 30-year-old was found dead inside the store back in march. it was reported there was some sort of robbery because the victim was found with the suspect who was tied up. later came out that authorities arrested her co-worker, 27-year-old britney norwood. her parents were inside the courtroom. they saw the video of norwood speaking with her brother. the video was taken back in march when she was brought into the station for questioning. this is before she was arrested. the brother said, did she, meaning murray accuse you of shoplifting. she replied with a grunt. we couldn't make out w
