the front will gradually push it off the eastern seaboard. but there is an indication that that front may become stuck right off the eastern seaboard. so when we get to the seven-day forecast, that is a hopeful forecast that could change. this is what the national hurricane center thinks danny is doing right now. 40 miles per hour worth of wind. it is now started to move. throughout the afternoon it was just stationary. it's now moving north at 5 miles an hour. and as you can see, danny is going to be staying off the coast. and it is not going to become a hurricane. it's just going to be a batch of wind and rain. throughout the early morning hours, we have some shower and thunderstorm activity move through the region. a little bit of a break in the action. but then this afternoon more showers and thunderstorms making their way through region. but that tropical moisture extends all the way down to the south. and it continues to pump moisture in our direct, which will cause showers and thunderstorms. there it is right there on maryland's most p

look what happens on friday as danny starts moving along the eastern seaboard.s going to start pumping in a lot of moisture. that's going to cause some rainfall, all the way from pennsylvania back through ohio, kentucky, sections of virginia and virginia and north carolina as well as maryland and delaware we'll see the rainshowers out of danny. tonight mostly clear, humid. you'll see an overnight low of 71 degrees. during the day tomorrow, it's going to be a nice day. partly cloudy, but some showers arriving late tomorrow night after midnight. like 3:00, 4:00 in the morning. over the daytime high 87 degrees. the 87 will be followed by cooler temperatures on friday, because we'll be seeing the shower activity moving past the region. same situation on saturday. but saturday from ten income the morning on, things should start to clear up with a high of 78 degrees. saturday some lingering showers on sunday and again on monday. but tuesday and wednesday, sunshine returns with some clearer skies, or clearing skies, cooler temperatures, and lower humidity. we'll be bac

all it's going to do is cause heavy surf along the eastern seaboard and riptides. but it's not really going to impact our weather. that trough of low pressure out of the carolinas. that's going to be affecting our weather. now a closer look at the shower activity that we had throughout the day today. there it is right there. and in more shower activity, as you look back down to the southwest of d.c., making its way in our direction. so rainfall is not over yet. but the way things are looking, by tomorrow afternoon, once danny gets by and once the trough of low pressure gets by, things are going the start to improve, and improve very rapidly. right now maryland's most powerful radar continues to watch the heavy rainfall moving up into pennsylvania. there some of that rain right this that came through portions of carroll county. you can still see some showers there to the west of the d.c. area. also showers on the lower eastern shore making their way up through sections of delaware and also ocean city right now getting some very heavy rainfall. temperature-wise every

right now it's the possibility that it comes up the eastern seaboard. in sunday as we get into the later morning hours, most likely affecting us if it does affect us at all. the chances are it that it will curl out to sea. that pressure looks like it's going to be doing just that. in the path bermuda has to be the most concerned, it looks like for bill coming its way. the catergory ii hurricane i would have shown you right now on another graphic that went by quickly. 74 in d.c. 70 degrees in salisbury. 73 in hagerstown and 64 in oakland and again, can you see all of the heat around the eastern half of the u.s., cooler temperatures back to the west, but it stays hot around here for the next several days before that cooler air starts to move in our direction for the end of the weekend. 90 degrees for the high today, south wind at 5-10 miles an hour, partly cloudy skies for the eastern shore. the central part of the state getting up to 92 degrees. and 10 miles an hour. further points west, about 91 for the high after the western counties with a better chan

yesterday was a hot day up and down the eastern seaboard. didn't get to 90 in boston. new york city had its first official 90-degree day of the summer. 96 in washington, d.c. that was one of the hotter spots. that raleigh area back up to d.c., you hit 99 yesterday. norfolk, 94. charlotte, 95. you get the picture here. one of the hot spots was tallahassee at 97. this morning it is still warm. the air mass hasn't changed. it's still rather humid out there too. we had showers and storms that popped up from the ohio valley through western new york and pennsylvania. a few strong storms out there near westchester county and over long island last night. that hot weather will remain with us through the day today. the showers and storms will cool us off in most areas this afternoon. the forecast, another 90-degree day from new york, philadelphia, and boston. there will be more clouds this afternoon. a chance of showers and storms, including there in boston. should be a beautiful day in chicago, 82 and sun pef that's the a look at your national forecast. here's a look at the wea

it's headed toward the west and headed toward the eastern seaboard.got 40-mile-an-hour winds. 390 miles southeast of wilmington, north carolina at the north carolina coast that is most concerned. watch as it takes more of a northerly turn and the northeast before it makes its way west enough that it makes any direct landfall with the u.s. it looks like we may feel its influence but we won't see any direct impact on the eastern seaboard. nevertheless, we could have strong rip currents along the eastern seaboard and that means ocean city for us and also downpours not just today from another factor but also from the influence of danny as tropical symptom danny moves in our direction. a better chance for showers with thunderstorms moves into the early afternoon. by evening, a couple of thunderstorms but tapering off. nevertheless, rain continues to fall through the overnight period through tomorrow and maybe a bit of a break later in the day before we see a return of more showers and snorp chances on sunday due to the next front that moves in behind the f

as you talked about, issues, though, in parts of the eastern seaboard. namely, we have dangerous surf that will spill over from saturday into sunday. same time, rip currents a real possibility. the reason, this storm, although it is weakening and moving a bit to the north, still pushing a great deal of water from maine southward to the florida keys. a volume of water pushed up against the coast. that waite recreeds and the rip currents can pull people out to the sea. in fact, over 100 people according to noaa die in rip current situations every year in the u.s. coming up, a better idea what the storms are, how to break free of them and other signs to watch out for. one last thing i want to leave you with, a live shot we have. our friend mark is stationed -- one of his camera guises along the beach. with that you can see wave action coming in. water coming right up to the very base you see of these pilings and, of course, near this building. a few people here and here just watching the action. again, one of the strangest things about situations like this,

the activity extends up the eastern seaboard. up the 95 corridor, i should say. as far as our temperatures across the area right now, it's 81, or it was 81 on the hour in downtown baltimore. 86 in york. 83 in hagerstown. but temperatures are going to fall quite rapidly as the storm system goes through. take a look at hurricane bill. continues to churn out in the atlantic. bill continues to make its way on towards the northwest at about 14 to 15 miles an hour. but bill has intensified, now up to 110 miles per hour. it is 1,959 to the east- southeast of miami. bill is going to be taking a track, going to turn this way. it will not impact the united states. but what it's going to do is bring some very heavy surf and some riptides all along the eastern seaboard. but it is not going to be affecting the u.s. coast as far as the storms are concerned. at least that's the way it's looking according to the national hurricane center. throughout the day, a pretty nice day. lots of sun, lots of heat, lots of humid humidity. that's what gave rise through the shower and thunder

combined with danny as it moves up the eastern seaboard. but that's a system right there that is primarily going to be bringing us the heavier rainfall. now over the past 12 to 18 hours, you can see rainfall spreading up to eastern portions of tennessee, and around our area. a few little light scattered showers across the region. you can see it on our little bit closer satellite picture throughout the day. lots of sunshine, a few clouds. a few light showers right now. one right now in northern baltimore county, stretching down across the appalachians right there. nothing of any real big significance. but as we go through the overnight period, the showers will become more numerous, and then during the day tomorrow, that area of low pressure arrives from the south that area of low pressure is already spreading shower activity into portions of georgia, tennessee, south and north carolina. and as it moves up along with danny, so that they're both kind of moving at the same time. but danny is going to be staying out in the atlantic, causing the

i'm going to get out of the way after i pointed there is florida there is the eastern seaboard.s what is left of ana right there. but bill is hiding right behind our abc 2 logo. here comes bill churning as it makes its way towards the east over the past 24 hours, still making its way towards the east. it is gaining a lot of strength. bill right now has winds of 90 miles per hour. there it is right now, a category 1 storm hanging there right just to the left of our abc 2 logo. moving towards the west northwest. 14 miles an hour. now here is what it looks like bill is going to be doing. it will intensify. it looks like to a category 3 storm. and then start a turn northward. and by saturday, it looks like it's going to be about 4 to 500 miles off the coast of the carolinas, continuing to turn on to the north and east. but we'll keep a real close eye on bill as it makes its way across and towards the caribbean. as far as our satellite picture throughout the day today, a pretty nice day. a few light clouds. a few light showers broke out in western portions of virginia. but for the mo

but the category two storm is creating high surf and strong rip currents all along the eastern seaboard. tropical storm warning is in effect for the state of massachusetts. domenica davis is tracking it all for us. >> yes, a category two and it's expected to pass several hundred miles to the east of cape cod. it's expected to make the closest path to the united states and then first thing tomorrow morning. it's sitting 400 miles south of nantucket and continue on the northeasterly trek for the next few days. it's going to be category one by sunday morning. winds go down to 85 miles an hour. right now we are looking 100 mile-an-hour winds moving off to the north at 23 miles per hour. again, by tonight that is when the ca mechb islands is going to get hit with the heaviest rain. although the winds aren't really the big concern here it's going to be the wave heights, ocean flow and rip currents. so really be the big deal up and down the east coast. here is what we're looking at dangerous surf, 12-18, 15-22 up through new england. we do have our tropical storm warnings that are in effect fo
