errol, does he need paul ryan and john mccain to win? >> we'll find out. look, paul ryan is, i think, more of a symbol than anything else. paul ryan was on the ticket in 2012 and couldn't carry his own state. lost to wisconsin by about seven points. in practical terms, not like some kind of giaj gigantic mach. as a symbol, it's incredibly important because it gives everyone else permission to walk away from donald trump. that's why it got under his skin a little bit and why he's tweeting about it. if you've got dozens and dozens of congressional candidates who are saying, you know what, we're not going to push the trump stuff so much or we've got an add and maybe some palm cards and some of the mailings and some of the joint campaign material that's out there, but we're not going to use it. that really starts to hurt. that's where it really starts to matter in a lot of the swing states. >> portman took until late saturday night, 8:30 saturday night but he had stepped away. he is one of the people, he has a lot of legitimacy in the senate and he is saying,
