ed lee became san francisco's 43rd mayor and the first asian- american mayor of san francisco.s appointed in 2011 by the board of supervisors after gavin newsome resigned to become lieutenant governor. he won election in 2011 and was reelected in 2015. certainly the mayor handled a number of high profile pressing issues in office. one of the most heart warming events that he was involved in happened when the make a wish organization organized for the mayor to give bat kid the keys to the city and declared the day bat kid day. thousands and thousands came out to show their support to miles and be part of the 5-year- old leukemia survivor's superhero wish. san francisco was turned into gotham city. he got to rescue damsals in distress and he helped lucille. milesis now 7 years old. happy to say he is doing well. >> we will always remember him and mayorly for that. the time is 7:15 on the phone with us right now is scott weiner, a former san francisco supervisor. senator, can you hear me? >> i can. thank you. >> i know how closely you worked with mayor lee. how did you hear about

of san francisco. now outside of the those words by current acting mayor london breed, we also heard from a hospital rep. we're expecting to get more information on the cause of death when it came to mayor ed lee. all the hospital rep could tell us at this point is that mayor ed lee was brought to zuckerberg san francisco general roughly around 10:00 p.m. he was in critical condition. they tried to work on him for a few hours and he eventually died at 1:11 a.m. the medical examiner at this time is not saying what the cause of death is, but we have reported at least through our morning shows during our conversations with former san francisco mayor willie brown that it appears that a heart attack is the reason why mayor ed lee passed away at the age of 65. the way this is going to work as far as who the mayor is going to be. we heard from acting mayor london breed. she was currently serving at the board of supervisors president. she's going to keep that role, at least for now, until certain things happen

and only san francisco. i just have to state as an individual who is not a homeowner in san francisco and is not certain that they can afford to own a home in san francisco, i've often gotten advice that i should buy a home outside of san francisco to be a homeowner. i don't think it's unusual for a san francisco resident who is a renter to own a home outside of san francisco, given the housing prices we have here in the city. in fact, i know i have many friends who are domiciled in san francisco. there are individuals we know that are executive directors that are renters in san francisco but own outside of san francisco and we do not question their residency. so i just want to say, again, that i want to move forward with these four outstanding individuals who really have offered their support and advice to this board around housing and affordable housing as we move very quickly through our technical process around inclusionary housing. thank you. >> councillor breed: thank you, supervisor kim. supervisor ro

so the san francisco community clinic consortium is the recipient for san francisco of the health care for the homeless funds and we then sub-grant those funds to several of our clinics and to several of the d.p.h. clinics, and we also run a very effective outreach van that goes around the city to certain places and provides kind of urgent care but more importantly a connection to primary care for any homeless people that we can convince that they want to be welcomed into one of our clinics or the d.p.h. clinics and enroll in whatever they are eligible for and get health care. we don't usually come before you very much and the reason for that is that of all of the non-profit community clinics only 4% of our funding comes from the county and the majority is from the state and the federal government. this money is critically important for our clinics and especially for our health care for the homeless program and it will have an impact on the entire city so we want to make sure, a, that we corrected the number which should be $14.4 million and make it clear that this is absolutely crucia

the hotel rates in san francisco are quite high. people are willing to pay a lot of money to san francisco. and so that to some extent allows those businesses to support their workers. but there's a difference between -- i think it's important to keep in mind in this -- the people that have housing and the next generation. one of the reasons that the housing burden numbers that i show are not as high as people might think is those are people that have been living in their house for a long time. if you have owned your house for a long time or in a rent-controlled house for a long time, your housing costs may be managable, particularly if your income is going up as well. trying to get someone to move to san francisco and pay $3,700 or if their family changes and they need a bigger home, will they be able to find a place in the city or even nearby? i think that's the real challenge. so to some extent, industries that are competitive in this city, and we have a strong to tourism, can pay the wages, but i would not minimize the challeng

getting to more specifics in san francisco. the study explored existing conditions documenting bottlenecks and delays and causes in san francisco. we conducted the analysis with the eye towards implementing something to benefit users in san francisco. one of the interesting findings is the bay bridge is the contributing bottleneck for west of 101, 101 north of 280 and the central freeway. mtc is leading a effort to address problems with the bay bridge. we are excited to participate in that. given those reasons, we developed the alternative you see here on your screen. this utilize ms. 101 and 280 to get vehicles in and out of downtown. the existing configuration allows continuous lane by re-striping. it would move to five miles to the county line. northbound because it ex its from the right side it would be a gap with no line on the 280 for four miles. then another opportunity to begin a lane touching down at sip and king helping people bypass the traffic backed up from the traffic signal there. obviously, outreach is important
