glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the most accurate forecast. folks are ready for a forecast glenn. >> yeah. it was pretty chilly yesterday. we have a fair amount of clouds there filling out. it is allowing a little more sunshine to fill in. it is a good bit brighter than this time yesterday. we have mostly sunny skies in much of new jersey and southern delaware. we have breaks in the clouds in central pennsylvania. is general trend is going to be far little bit more sunshine as we go through the day. there is obviously no threat of rain coming this way. we are up to 46 degrees in philadelphia now. it is already warmer than it yesterday at this time. it is up to 50 in wilmington. several places will get right around 50 or into the 50s. we are 5 to 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. wilmington is 9 degrees warmer. it will be more comfortable this 50 degrees at philly about 1:00. a fair amount of clouds d some sunshine in new jersey less sun in the pa suburbs and the lehigh valley and temperatures not dropping as much to be the as we saw last niechl

first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz joining us once again from the gloucester premium outlets. keep the warm jacket handy, right, glenn? >> yeah. i am not going to be putting it away anytime soon because that 70 degrees for monday is a thing of the past. and we are in a fairly long stretch of below normal temperatures. and in some cases way below normal temperatures. let's show you what it's like right now. we have clear skies in much of the region. it's only 50 degrees. that's close to 10 degrees below normal in philadelphia. 49 in the suburbs. and of course, in the suburbs, it is going to be dropping even faster. we have temperatures in the upper 40s at the jersey shore right now. and near 50 degrees with a northeast wind. you can see some light rain down toward the southern tip of delaware. that's all going straight to the east. and the satellite is showing a little line across michigan. that is a cold front that will be approaching here. as we go through the night tonight, we'll have some clouds around and maybe even some rain around the -- some shore points. look

here is first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. glenn, we'll be feeling the temperature drop tomorrow morning, right? >> oh, yeah, jim, we're feeling it right now. you'll feel it even more in a few hours. if you are headed outside, don't think about the 57 degrees we had early this afternoon. it won't feel anything like that as we go through the evening. we have clear skies across part of the area, but a lot of clouds also. those clouds not producing any precipitation. the rain that we had, way up in new england, moving into canada. there is no real weather threat over the next several days. but the temperature, yeah, that's going down. it's 46 degrees in philadelphia now. only 40 in pottstown. 30 in mount pocono. it really has dropped over the last few hours. it's going to continue to drop into the 30s. even in philadelphia over the next couple of hours. and then down near 30 by 7:00 a.m. a little bit of wind added to that, making it feel even colder. we'll see if it's going to warm up anytime this weekend coming up. >> all right,

greenberg, nbc 10 news. >>> and we're looking ahead to more below normal temperatures. >> glenn "hurricane" schwartz has the details. glenn? >> we're going to see an earavee of below normal temperatures and next week are probably colder than this week, including the thanksgiving holiday. clouds across the area but the visibility is fine. 44 degrees. a lot of clouds across the area. we're starting to see a little bit of clearing in some of the p.a. suburbs. and coatesville, west bradford township, unionville, chester springs, they are all 41 degrees and about to go into the 30s. and 39 degrees in doylestown. as the skies clear, the temperatures will drop even more. average high, 47. we're only at 45 today. we're seeing a warming trend but struggling to get up to the seasonal norm. saturday is our best chance of doing that. we may cool down a little bit on friday. and then it cools down again. we had the rain and that moves offshore. the low clouds linger today and that's why the temperature stayed the way it was, only into the mid-40s with more sunshine. we should be able to get into the 50s. shanksv

let's check in with glenn "hurricane" schwartz who is live at the philadelphia premium outlets. you are bundled up, rightfully so, glenn. >> reporter: yes. north and west of the city so we are colder than philly or delaware of south jersey. it is also a little windier. we brought storm force 10 out here. one of the things it has, it is measuring the wind speed and showing the wind direction. look at the impacts of the wind there. we are out and they have those power plants. look at the smoke. it is going straight to the left. so more proof of how windy it is. we have a first alert out for the arctic blast for the entire region. it goes until 10:00 a.m. saturday. it is for the cold gusty winds and feels like the teens by this evening and some record cold in some spots. it feels like 24 in potstown area. it is 23 in reading. it feels cold out here. by 9:00 it feels like 19 degrees. the winds will die down tonight. from philadelphia southward until 10:00 a.m. the first hard freeze and the actual air temperature, 39 in philly. it dropped 3 degrees in the past hour. so the temperature

glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the answer, glenn. >> yeah. the simple answer is no. we have got a warm day today. sunday is going to be pretty mild. saturday, no. we have cloudy skies looking at the ben franklin bridge here. these clouds are not thick. this is in wilmington, delaware right now. it is not effecting the temperature too much. it is 71 in dover. it is 72 in millville. the thicker clouds are back in central pennsylvania. there's nothing on the radar close by. even in central pennsylvania with a cold front there isn't much. our chances of rain later today is pretty slim. it's not zero but it's slim. here we take a look at the hour by hour. by 4:00 maybe one or two light showers moving through. that's it with the front. the colder air comes in behind it, sets us up for a much colder day tomorrow. so through the afternoon temperatures into the 70s in much of the area. clouds preventing it from getting even warmer. i don't think we'll be setting any records today. this evening it's not too cold. by tomorrow morning it will start to be cooling off quite a bit.

glenn "hurricane" schwartz is joining us live. >> that's right. enn, bring us up to date of what is happening in our area. >> reporter: the showers continue to diminish and the sky continues to improve. we are going to have a beautiful sunset out here in lower bucks county but just in case, we have storm ranger 10. that's available to check out any kind of storms. it's going to come with this to all of our locations this week. so you can come out and join us. well, right now we have a mix of clouds and sun across the area. some places look a lot more threatening. jersey shore, the temperatures are still a warm 62. and we have a bit of a land breeze. it's all well into the 60s. now, there's a cold front coming down. look at the temperatures on the other side. pittsburgh, 49. rochester, 46. only 42 in chicago. 33 in minneapolis. some of that cold air is heading down this way but the front will stall not too far from us and it will create complications. you can see the showers. so there is a chance, especially in central and southern delaware tonight

. >> let's bring in meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> those winds are going to be shift iing little bit bringin in warmer air. we have had a lot of sunshine today. the skies are clear now. wind diminishing. the humidity low. the temperatures should really be dropping pretty quickly with the clear skies. it's not as you'll see in a minute. a little bit of moisture building up along the gulf coast. that could be affecting us tomorrow morning. 46 degrees in philadelphia. now we hit 48 for the high. that's well below average. only 38 right now in allentown. but with the warmer air trying to come, it's going to prevent the. temperature from dropping too much. it would be at least 5 to 8 degrees cooler. temperatures very similar. this is a sign of things to come. we'll see more ups and downs through the holiday weekend. i'll take you through that in a few minutes. >>> the ntsb released its preliminary report into the plane crash that killed roy halladay. it showed that the plane was rising and falling in the moments before the crash. that confirms what witnesses said in the time sh

let's go back to glenn "hurricane" schwartz at the philadelphia premium outlets in limerick. iew of the sunset, glenn? >> yes. it is beautiful but as soon as it goes down it's going to feel even colder because that sun has helped us out to some degree. there's radiation coming towards us and even if the temperature wasn't that high, it felt a little better during the day than it will at night. we do have the sunset taking place in just a couple minutes. it gets totally dark about a half hour after the official sun set. 37 in philadelphia, 33 in the suburbs. 32 in lehigh, berks county. the first alert continues for the whole region, now extended through saturday night because saturday night is going to be just about as cold as tonight. and cold gusty winds making it feel like temperatures are in the teens with some record cold temperatures possible. in philadelphia itself, at the airport it's 37. but it's 34 in park side and west mount airy and andorra. those temperatures are, obviously, going down. it will be colder there than it will be officially for the low in philadelphia.

nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the most accurate forecast. >> the poconos will be one of the places that clears out the earliest. our western suburbs will clear out first. it's still pretty cloudy and dismal in the philadelphia area. the steady rain has moved out, but the low clouds are here. here's our usual shot that shows the flags and the buildings, but it's in the clouds. now, you can see the movement of this rain area, straight to the east, and lehigh valley, berks county, chester county, much of the philadelphia area, certainly done with the steady rain, but we're still getting it in mercer county and burlington county and new jersey. and some of it at the shore. but that will be moving out. the clouds, though, they're going to hang around and prevent the temperature from going up very much. it's still only 41 at philadelphia, 37 in pottstown. 38 in reading. at least we don't have much wind to make it feel even cooler. but the average high this time of the year is 57. and we are not even close to it. we have cloudy skies for the rest of

. >> glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking this kind of weather roller coaster we'll be dealing with this weekend. >> absolutely. we're going way down tomorrow, then we're going up a little bit on sunday. but not as warm as it is right now. we have cloudy skies across the area, but that hasn't stopped the temperature from going up. the clouds are a little thicker up toward the lehigh valley, easton, for example, nothing more than a sprinkle as you'll see. look at these temperatures, 73 in philadelphia, 71 in allentown. the average high is only 61 for this time of year. yet we're that warm, even with all the clouds. you see this, this is satellite and radar. where are the showers? they're really aren't any, even with a pretty significant band of clouds moving through the area. that's a cold front that's going to set us up for colder weather by morning, you see the temperature drop here this morning. it was in the 50s in philadelphia and across much of the rest of the area. look at this, pa suburbs, it's down into the upper 30s by tomorrow morning. tomorrow is going to be a much colder

let's bring in glenn "hurricane" schwartz. the rain could affect traveling very early tomorrow morning. >> that's right. and it's especially true in delaware and south jersey. the rain should come up toward the philadelphia area but the farther north and west you are, the less likely it is for those roads to be wet. you can see the moisture creasing from the south. not much rain close by that's for sure. but it is going to. develop. all the computer models are showing that now. it will generally be after midnight. and again especially delaware and south jersey. this is the morning rush. the latest computer guidance continues it a little bit longer and expands the area a little bit more and brings the rain a little bit heavier toward the coast by tomorrow morning's rush. but again, lehigh valley berks county looks like not getting anything. by noontime, even the shore is going to be drying out. but colder air will be moving in. itten won't be cold in the morning when it's raining. 51 in philadelphia. likely not raining too far
