honolulu with wind gusts and winds up to 24. the storm is tracking across the southeast coast of the big island for volcanoes national park. kona on the westside and looping around the tip of the island. close to where we think it is coming ashore. a slow speed of the storm, it's possible the hilltops on the windward or the east facing side of the big island could pick up 10 to 20 inches of rain. looking at the eyewall with to seven inches per hour to slow it down and keeping the fire hose of water in on the big island longer. the flooding will be the big problem as it tracks away and during the day, it will stay to the south of those other islands. kauai, oahu and maui. julio did ramp up to category 3. a much stronger storm and that tracks looks to curve away from the big island and most of the hawaiian islands themselves. we hope that path continues to take that storm away from the hawaiian islands. we will have traffic in a couple of minutes. >> mike is actually on the big island right now. >> this was supposed to be a vacati

jennifer bjorklund is in honolulu. it's sunny behind you, but the skies are getting darker. >> reporter: they are, and the wind is picking up, jessica. hurricane iselle is at a category 1 and is expected to hit the big island, and when it does, they are hoping that slows it down and spares the rest of the island chain, but then they have hit number two, julio. the remote beauty of these islands is also what makes them inhospitable at times, as not one, but two hurricanes head for the hawaiian island chain. >> we are as fully prepared today as it's possible for us to be. >> reporter: what's there on store shelves is all that will be there. natives know to stock up when shortages are imminent. >> get the basic necessities, gas tanks, flashlight batteries, canned goods. >> reporter: hurricane preps aren't in their built-in survival skill set, only three have hit the islands since the 1950s. the most recent, more than 20 years ago, destroyed 1,400 homes and killed six people, but people here are remembering that quickly. >

right now 770 miles east-southeast of honolulu, hawaii. there has been a very important forecast change for this storm system, prior forecast model runs had this going over all of the island chain of hawaii. but with the latest update, what you're going to see as it approaches the big island here by thursday 8:00 p.m. for landfall, winds at 75 miles per hour, instead of pushing over all the islands, it takes it just a little bit to the south. that's a better scenario if you still have to head that way, because you have vacation there. it looks like it's going to be south of honolulu by friday morning, with winds of 65. and then the storm will push out by saturday. but the next storm system, well, it's also going to be a course on the way. winds at 75 miles per hour. this is also going to be a quick clip towards hawaii. also better news if you're going there on vacation, the track is shifting more to the north. we're not looking at a direct hit from julio at this point. saturday winds of 70 miles per hour, that's when the rain bands will be

this is a category 4 hurricane moving towards those islands in and around honolulu and hawaii. this is ezell we have been tracking. but it will be yound grading into a tropical storm. so it will be on a weakening trend but it will be bringing high surf conditions. we have another system following which is julio. this is still a tropical storm but we'll keep a very close eye on this system as well. now to the americas we go. southern california has been battered with the southwest monsoonal flow. you can see a very big cloud coverage here. yet it struck mount baldy. the monsoon left its mark an mudslides and flash floods ripped through the muds in california. a week was washed off from the mountain. no injuries were reported but 2500 people were stranded due to the mud flow. it could take three days to remove the debris. the good news is that the rain will be moving to the north but it will be heavy amounts in northern california. will be seeing welcoming weather but the amount of it is not really welcoming. it could cause flash floods. so watches are really widely posted in the
