the university of hawaii team arrived in the bay area from honolulu here for a tournament at stanford. before the big match they ran into a problem. someone broke into their vans, taking their equipment and much more. nbc bay area anoushah rasta joins us. >> the parking lot behind us is where the university of hawaii official says they parked the team vans on wednesday so the team could grab dinner at a nearby restaurant. someone then broke in, stole backpacks, swimsuits, water goggles, passports of foreign players. a parent of one of the water polo players sent us photos that her daughter took posted on snapchat after the break-in showing the busted vans, broken glass everywhere in the parking lot. today the team faced off against cal at stanford for a tournament. this is video of the university of hawaii players practicing before the game, a game that cal ultimately won. at a short press conference after the match two of the players noted the break-in but told us they didn't let that distract them. a parent who came to watch her daughter play calls the incident really disappointing.
