. >> jackie bensen has more tonight. jackie? >> reporter: jim, documents presentsed in court today indicate the suspect may have been motivated by, quote, a dislike of people who he felt do not treat gale people equally. 28-year-old floyd lee corkins ii listened to the magistrate judge read the charges against him. one count of violating federal l law. according to court documents, corkins allegedly told family research council security officer leo johnson, quote, i don't like your politics. prosecutors say security cameras in the building show corkins removed a handgun and firing at the security officer who, though wounded, was able to gain control of the weapon. according to court documents, after corkins was subdued, d.c. police officers found 50 rounds of ammunition and 15 schick fillet sandwiches. agents noted in the criminal complaint that the fast food chain had recently received national publicity. thomas peter is with the national organization for marriage, which recent i responsiblored a chick-fil-a appreciation day. >

jackie bensen, news4 sfla tropical storm isaac continues to gain strength. the many brought 60-mile-per-hour winds to haiti and the dominican republic today. it's expected to drop -- the system hasn't intensified into a hurricane yet, but meteorologists say it is on its way. isaac is expected to make landfall by next week to the republican national convention in tampa. >>> everything looking good, at least for now, kim martucci has an update. richard, good evening, hot off the presses, the latest coordinates are in for isaac. when i last saw you, it has strengthened another 5 miles an hour, right now winds are sustained at 65. this is still a tropical storm category, moving it to the northwest at 16 miles an hour. eye notice it keeps it off the coast of florida by monday, 2:00, with winds of 75 miles an hour. that would be a category 1 hurricane. it doesn't mean tampa will get by without any rain or stronger winds, but it doesn't seem the path taken a direct hit, bringing it on shore later towards wednesday. we'll talk about the impacts there, if any of that

jackie bensen will have more on that on news 4 at 5:00. >>> the first two human cases of west nile virus this year have been reported in virginia. a spokesperson with the virginia department of health says one man in southwest virginia and another in northwestern region of the state have contracted the mosquito-born virus. they both recovered. there are also five known cases in maryland and none in the district this year. most people infected with west nile virus won't get sick actually but about 1 in 150 people will develop severe symptoms including high fever, headache, muscle weakness, even coma and paralysis. one person died from west mile last year. one of the people who did experience the severe form of west nile virus happens to know a lot about that virus. dr. arias, an entomologist, contracted west nile virus last year. they actually had to put him in a coma for a week. >> even if they would have been able to diagnose me right up at the beginning at the get-go when i went in on the 18th, it wouldn't have made any difference whatsoever because it's a virus and what you do is you
