i'm jeb bush. i'm a different kind of bush. don't see me as an outgrowth of the other two members of my family who have recently been president, i am my own man. and here's what went wrong. here's what went wrong about that, as a campaigning for president screwup, right? while the press was absorbing the jeb bush foreign policy address and his declaration that he is his own man and different from his father and his brother, they were also given by the jeb bush for president folks a handout, a list of foreign policy advisers that jeb bush was taking council from or had endorsements from in his soon-to-be run for the presidency. they gave out a list of 21 names. of those 21 names, 13 of those people worked on foreign policy issues for jeb bush's brother, george w. bush. two of them worked on foreign policy issues for his father, poppy bush. and four of them worked on foreign policy for both his brother and his dad in their administrations. and then one of them is george schultz, who's now 94. he was secretary of state when his --

mark: by every measure it is jeb bush.e will raise the most money the establishment likes him, a lot of members of congress would like to see him be the nominee. scott walker ahead in the new poll and is being seen by younger people as a more exciting alternative to jeb bush. if you go by traditional measures, jeb bush is the front runner. according to web fundraising it is scott walker. john: right now, scott walker, the poll puts him ahead. he has 17 points between him and jeb bush in iowa. a place where scott walker needs to win. you also see in this poll that jeb bush way worse numbers than anyone else in the republican field. 40% unfave and a lot of republicans will not vote for him. he is the front runner but scott walker is coming out strong. mark: bush needs as the front runner to play in all of them. does he stretch himself too thin trying to beat walker and others in iowa, trying to be crisp in new hampshire, he will have to have a place to win. you have to win an early stage and you have to compete everywhere. j

i think jeb probably has to win but finish a strong second. >> polls a snapshot in time and jeb bush hasn't been in iowa and new hampshire to campaign. our polls both show that in both states there are some issues that for him, for some voters, they say are deal killers. if you were mike murphy and jeb bush, would you take those polls seriously or simply a snapshot that he can turn around? >> you have to take them seriously. these two totally different venues, you get some quite similar results. i didn't think immigration would be an issue in new hampshire and apparently it is. but when you come, you know, to questions like immigration common core, he has to address those issues. he has to address them in those states. >> kind of surprising that in new hampshire, where education has always been a big issue and state control, many more voters told us in our poll that immigration was a deal killer for them than jeb's position on common core. >> i was surprised by that. >> everybody right now, i want to do an exercise. we're going to count to three and all say, at this moment in time, w

that might get him some contrast and traction against jeb -- jeb bush.be supplied -- supply-side and sweeping is where he wants to go. mark: it will be interesting to see if he says that in the context of running for president. almost all these questions were about state issues. they were about sandy relief the economy and atlantic city, some health care policy issues. the one question he got was the one about hog farming regulation which he said democrats were trying to gin up to embarrass him. he closed with the notion of continuing to governor -- to govern new jersey while he ponders running for president. >> there is all this conversation about me running for president. easy now. and there is this sense are feeling that -- or feeling that that decision will determine whether i do my job or not. and whether i am here are not. maybe if i decide to run and if i won, i will not do both at the same time nor would you want me to. i am focused on this job. i can walk and chew gum at the same time. mark: the biggest thing i take out of the town hall and my d

bush administration, so jeb's dad anticipates presidential administration. one of the weirder political knocks they took when i was president was the u.s. senate deciding not once but twice, to reject someone who bush supported to be the u.s. attorney in the state of florida. the nominee is a guy who got admonished by the justice department for the way he ran his office. the attorney general of the united states had to wade into this guy's office and take him personally off a high profile prosecution because he was not seen as being experienced enough or temperamentally suited enough to handle a high profile prosecution. so the attorney general of the united states had to step in and take him off it. the fbi background on this guy recounted a whole bunch of previous allegations of domestic violence against him. for all of those reasons and others besides, the senate rejected this nomination for this guy to be u.s. attorney. rejected it once. but still, for some reason poppy bush nominated him again and did him the insult of rejecting his nominee for the seco

talk about jeb bush.was in the front, all of a sudden these number two and maybe even dropping. >> jeb bush or any candidate can't walk in and guarantee that they're going to clinch this nomination. there's a lot of candidates there's work to be done. it's still early but scott walker's good week means that people need to pay attention to him. but he's also experiencing the roller coaster of presidential politics. he's topping polls, but he's also having some problems in his home state of wisconsin with his new budget he released. >> let's talk about that. you've been writing about his budget. what does that tell us how he aims to govern? >> one of the most controversial is that they proposed cuts to the university of wisconsin system. that's about a 13% cut. inside the state it's getting a lot of pushback. nationally, the democrats are for sure going to hit this. it plays into this team dating back to 2011 with his fight against the unions that walker is also anti-education. so what it means is that scot

jeb bush is not going to run in iowa.on't even know if he is going to compete there he is a moderate. and that's a conservative caucus. am i wrong? it a conservative caucus. 55 a 7% of the caucus goers in 2012 were self-identified social conservatives you do have a very conservative group of people that attend the caucuses. do i think. this first of all, i think there will be more -- a broader pool of people drawn into the caucuses this year because there is going to be a lot more candidates and that tends to generate more turnout. second of all the interesting thing in this poll is not exactly where everybody is but that there was so much movement between october and today for scott walker and you have to chart it to one fact. he went and made a fantastic speech at the iowa freedom forum which got played on radio and talked about across the state. >> walker was in very good shape. very very good shape. may be peaking too early. >> be careful. look at the past. at this point in 20011 the frontrunner in the des moines regi
