kai jackson explains how the abused dogs were brought back from the brink. >> reporter: the baltimore humane society wants them in good homes. they were all abused pit bulls, relegated to a life of fighting, torture and pain. after months of rehabilitation, they're ready for adoption. the animals dubbed the pit six were part of a dog fighting ring. a 36-year-old man was sentenced to three years in prison for animal cruelty. the case involved the pit six and was closed in 2009. >> that was their base purpose, as practice for all the big fighters. >> reporter: what they need now are loving homes. rehabilitation of the pit six took time, every dog is different and these had a lot to learn. what they learned was all the dogs wanted was attention and love. >> what you find is many of these dogs are sweet dogs. many of them are stolen from bag yards. >> reporter: the baltimore humane society still wants the state of maryland to crack down on dog fighting. they say the best way to do that is to teach children compassion about animals. >> thank you, kai. if anyone is interested in adopting th
