meteorologist kari hall has been monitoring what we can expect. how is it looking? because i know we've dealt with a little bit of rain. even this morning when i was outside there was some sprinkles. >> we've got some clouds, a little bit of mist. overall we are gradually going to see things clearing out. that's our marine layer that we see that brings us a high amount of humidity for the morning. as temperatures warm up, it pushes back out over the pacific. now, we're also seeing quite a bit of showers and thunderstorms developing over the sierra and yesterday afternoon we had a lot of activity with some cloud-to-ground lightning, boughts of heavy downpours. you can see yesterday afternoon with all the rain developing around the central sierra and extending toward the east. we're also seeing dryer air pushing down. we can see the leading edge of that. also, it's been fairly cool here. looking at napa, we've had 123 days of temperatures cooler than normal since the start of the year. that means this year 70% of the year has been cooler than average. well, it's going

here to break it down, meteorologist kari hall. i know we talked about the runoff season, it started later than usual. a lot of snow to melt because look at these numbers. >> this is how much snow is still where we are for what's normal for this time of may into june. so the northern sierra is still at 270% of normal and the southern sierra 389% of what's normal. >> we could still get some more snow this week. >> it's possible we could get a little more snow in the upper elevations. but take a look at how much of the water content has gown down. that means snowmelt. we usually see the snowmelt happen over the course of about eight weeks, but not only did it start later, but we are expecting it to last longer. so we started may with a water content at about 49 to 50 inches of water equivalent in the snow. we're still down to the 20%, 25% range, so there's still a lot of moisture left in the sierra snowpack that still remains up there in the upper elevations. not only that, but we've also had daily thunderstorms developing, and as co

meteorologist kari hall is tracking what we can expect. it's been mild recently. >>> it's been mild and we're going to continue with a few more days of mild weather before we have big changes. we're taking a live look outside in san jose, starting out cloudy, maybe even misting as you're driving to work. we're going to see it clearing out as we head into late morning into the afternoon. taking a look at the trend for oakland, we're going from 53 degrees at 6:00 to about 63 degrees at noon as we start to see a lot more sunshine, high temperatures there staying on the cool side, in the mid-60s today. as you make your way inland, mid-70s for livermore, upper 70s for morgan hill and up to 80 degrees for fairfield. so still wide-ranging temperatures. we'll get a look ahead to the rest of the week's forecast in a few minutes. >>> mike, you've been tracking a few issues and the ripple effect. >> a ripple from the earlier disabled vehicle on the bay bridge span that caused an early backup which caused early metering lights. this is a bigger backup

meteorologist kari hall is tracking what we can expect. another nice day ahead? it's going to be a great day. one last day for the inland valleys to have some mild temperatures before that heat starts to crank up. so let's get a look at palo alto this morning, starting out cloudy, temperatures now in the mid-50s. as we go into today, we'll see it clearing out and still in the 60s at about lunchtime, headed for about 76 degrees for palo alto today. in san jose, it's headed for 77 degrees, so this is about what's normal for this time of year, maybe even slightly cooler in some spots, with concord reaching 82 and 79 in napa. we're going to talk about that weekend heat and that fourth of july forecast within view as well. >>> mike, emeryville is where we've seen some droplets on the lens. >> off the eastshore freeway, we're looking at westbound. welcome, good morning. we're looking at this camera where sometimes the lens did build up with droplets. they ran the wipers so it's clean right now. just a note, as kari has been talking about, things aren't completely witho

meteorologist kari hall has information for us, because sunny days may be ahead, but also rain as well. >> we've got a little of it all. we were looking at the richmond-san rafael bridge. in san jose we're seeing clouds rolling by and making it into the bay area. we have some very unusual weather coming in. we've seen a lot of showers and thunderstorms over the sierra. we're going to have a chance of rain as well. it could start as early as this evening for parts of the north bay, as we see some of those weakening thunderstorms moving in. we'll also have a slight chance of thunderstorms between tonight and off and on throughout the day tomorrow, and it's showing decent amounts of rainfall for some parts of the bay area, especially where we get heavier downpours concentrated. we could see anywhere from a few hundredths of an inch of rain to possibly close to a quarter. so we'll be watching that. >>> mike has a look at where we can find lower gas prices. >> with the help of our gas buddies. our low is marin county, mill valley $4.11 at the arco on redwood highway. next is $4.19, the best

." >>> meteorologist kari hall has been tracking the conditions all week. looking at this, you can see a lot of this area covered in unhealthy conditions. >> yeah, so we've seen major improvements. take a look at most of new york, where we don't have any unhealthy air quality. so it has changed quite a bit since a couple of days ago when those sensors were purple. now we've seen it downgrading to moderate to unhealthy for people with breathing problems. that really has improved quite a bit, not only there but also all across the east, as we've seen a change in the weather pattern as well. but the fires do continue up in quebec, canada, so we're seeing more changes with air quality. we'll be monitoring that. it has been nice around the bay area. we saw sunshine yesterday. we will see more clouds moving in today with temperatures in the low 60s for san francisco, and some low 70s as you make your way inland. san jose reaching 73 and 71 in santa rosa. we head to dublin where today's high temperature will reach 71 degrees. we'll talk about the weekend coming up
