let's start off by talking about karl rove -- karl rove's groups. >> probably it is in some ways the most important of the new entities. rove and ed gillespiewho are now but super consultants on pastry in washington, started strategizing last year basically on the need for more outside muscle to help republicans this year. a lot of the thinking early on was spurred by the fact the rnc, starting last year, began that major management fundraising and other problems that were well publicized in places all across the country, in different media outlets. "the washington times" has been particularly good at reporting on some of the internal difficulties at the rnc. this basically cause a hemorrhage of longtime fundraisers and donors at the rnc. some of their biggest fund- raisers from contributors, started to get jittery about things and were not participating in rnc programs. it was partly a personal thing. some did not feel they were getting enough attention from the new chairman, michael steele. with this as a backdrop, karl rove and ed gillespie began thinking about a need for a better

rove's secret machine, "does it surprise you that karl rove and his friends, karl rove, the architect of the policies that drove us into this ditch are back raising tens of millions of dollars from shady sources. for the first time in modern american history, they don't have to tell us." the vice president also taking on the chamber of commerce and the allegations that the group accepts foreign money and uses it to accept attack adds. again, mr. biden, "i challenge the chamber of commerce. if i'm wrong, i will stand corrected, but show me." thinkprogress.org reported last week that at least hundreds of thousands of dollars of foreign money was being accepted by the chamber which does not disclose its donors and uses money from its general fund to pay for attack ads overwhelmingly benefiting republicans. mr. josten, "the times" wrote, said the chamber of commerce had 115 foreign general affiliates in 108 countries that pay a total of less than $100,000 in general membership dues that go into its regular funds. this is its graphic. josten's claim may account for some money, but not from

karl rove those it, boil knows it and they probably don't have an enemies list but you are basically to win the spin cycle and you get sound bites out there. but it is interesting to see so many years at this point removed from george bush and rove left early and they are going at it again. >> all of these showing that the heat is on. there is a lot of pressure with mid terms so close. we heard from the president over the weekend. he threw out the line don't make me look bad. he is putting pressure on voters as well. >> what is interesting, for the most part he has tried to not make it about him because he knows he is not popular in some swing districts. about you -- but with one group he is. he was like this historical figure for african-americans and he is saying look, just because my name is not on the ballot and just because i'm not on the campaign will you support me. he is very popular but he is making it personal plea. i think he did six interviews with african-american hosts to say i'm not on the ballot but please come out during the election. typically you see it dwindle. >>
