karl rove has tended to back the establishment republicans. you have backing the libertarian faction the koch brothers, among others. and you have a coalition backing what i call the more religious-oriented conservatives, the extreme social conservatives. so it's not just an ideological battle. you have a battle for resources going on within the gop as well. and that's the situation now. and the thing is, it's against another backdrop. the backdrop is that the republican party is in a demographic death spiral. take a look at the numbers. take a look at the votes in the last couple of elections. you find that, for example, hispanics are going to be 30% of the population. i'm not talking about illegals now, i'm talking about hispanic citizens. hispanic-americans are going to be about 30% of the population in about a decade or so, okay? the republicans have got a declining percentage of the vote. i think it was 27% for romney, way down from george w. bush, okay? so they're losing a growing fraction of the population. take a look at young people.
