i saw texas attorney general ken paxton there, he came to pay his respects and made type to talk with me about these tragic events and the effect they're having on his community and his own family. obviously the shooter is dead. where else do you see this investigation going? >> you know, i think the thing you want to make sure is he didn't conspire with anybody else. i know the dallas police department is looking into those details. they're doing a great job. i'm really proud of their work and what they've already accomplished in a really, really short period of time. it's not going to be one of those things that's done in 48 hours which is about where we're at. it's going to take time. >> does your gut tell you there will be prosecution? >> i don't know. i think that time will tell on that. how can we make sure this doesn't happen again. and i think the dallas police department has already been a part of that. they started reaching out. they were protecting protesters that were protesting against them. and not only were they protecting them, they ran into the line of fire. that's an

we're joined right now by the attorney general of the state of texas, ken paxton., can you tell uthere's been some confusion today. when last we heard at the police briefing last night, we had a slew of possible suspects. a woman under arrest. we had that kind of controlled car chase on i-35. we had several suspects apprehended. are they still suspects, or was this as far as you know, a lone gunman? >> you know what? right now, i don't think we know for sure. i think they're still interviewing and going through these witnesses that they -- or these suspects that they've brought in. i don't think we're going to know for a while what we have. >> one thing a lot of people saw last night at the peaceful demonstration, and a lot of people, frankly, welcomed it, was a kind of post-ferguson reform that your state has been a part of and police forces around the country. a kind of gentler stance on the part of law enforcement. they were using social media to send out pictures with some of the peaceful demonstrators. is this, in addition to being the death of the five police

ken paxton. sir, good to have you with me. help us understand what the police chief and the mayor said in the last hour about the suspect who died in the parking garage, and the intent behind what happened last night. and what you're also learning from the other suspects. >> well, you know what, i think it's difficulty point to know what the intent was, other than by what the words of the suspect said. so i don't know if we're going to know that until time pass or we may never know it. but one of the things i did take from what the police chief said is that we need to encourage our law enforcement, because of risking their lives, and in this case, they gave their lives for citizens of dallas and texas. >> so, sir, the one suspect who died after being the robot that was sent in with an explosive device and was detonated by police, that's the suspect that police are attributing those words, the motives of wanting to go after white police officers specically. there are three other suspects. what can you tell us about them? >> act

gregg: joining us is texas attorney general ken paxton. i want to get your reaction to what the chief of police just said. he said the suspect -- and they talked to the suspect -- was upset about the recent police shootings, wanted to kill white people, especially white officers. what are your thoughts on that? >> you know, it's a sat sad day for us. it's particularly sad since the police officers were there to protect these people who were potentially protesting in opposition to the place. it's sad to me this is the way it was handled. these policemen were out defending these protesters. gregg: we heard police officers express the sentiment and a little bit from the chief of police as well that they feel under siege and targeted by the black community and the black community feels they are targeted by police. how do we heal amend this divide. >> it's a complicated issue. i think we need to do a better job of expressing our appreciation for law enforcement officers who are out risking their lives every day. i think the community in general

. >> okay, robin, we turn to the -- let's get more from the attorney general of texas, ken paxton, mr. paxton, thank you for joining us this morning. we are thinking and praying for the families of those victims right now and all the people of what more can you tell us about those injured officers now in the hospital? >> well, let me just say this. this is a sad day for texas. it's a resilient state but we're praying for the families as well. we won't forget the fallen heroes and want them to know we support them. i don't have a lot of details yet on the condition of some of the people who were injured. but i think we'll have that relatively soon. >> and what more do we know about the suspects here, three suspects now in custody? >> that's my understanding is they have three in custody at this moment. >> and one of the shooters apparently dead, as well. do we know how many of the suspects were actual shooters. some reports that two snipers on the scene. do we know if there were two or more? >> there's still many, many policemen down here investigating that. i don't think they've made
