kris anderson, 7 news. >> christa: all right, kris. thank you. be sure to stay with 7 news as we continue to track this storm. get up to the minute forecasts any time with. our interactive radar on-line and our 7 news app as well. >> christa: a driver pulled from the water afterhe loses control and ends up in the cape cod canal. john cuoco has been there. what happened here? >> reporter: well, christa, we spoke with the fire department here on scene. we have some brand new information. so just before 10:30 this morning, a driver was coming down perry avenue. and as perry avenue sort of turns, there is an area called three-mile look. we are told he went into this area of three-mile look. that is where he went through and then up and over an embankment. the fire department says he fell 35-40 feet down into the canal below. he clipped power lines on the way down. now, amazingly, this driver was actually able to get himself out of his car. first responders found him on the rocks near the water. now, they did take him... he was seen on a stretcher in

time now for fast track traffic with kris anderson. >> kris: hey, sarah. good thursday morning, everybody. let's take a live look outside the expressway. near the gas tank, traffic moving smoothly. let's go to the maps. half hour to get from the split all the way up to the tunnel, most of the slowdowns as you get closer to boston. slowdowns starting to affect 128, 3 pretty good. 95, as well. but it's not so bad if you want the head out right now. out west, framingham all the way to the pike into boston looking good, even as you get closer to the tollbooth. and north looks like something is forming here at 495 and 39 in lawrence. could be typical traffic flow. we'll keep an eye on that and 93 past 18, starting to slow down as you get closer to boston. route 1 in saugus is looking good so far. let's take a look at those drive times. 26 minutes split to the tunnel. 128 to 9312 minutes. and 128 to the zakim, 12 minutes. back to you, guys. >> sarah: developing this morning, an investigation under way after a woman is found in a ravine in weymouth. she was taken

we just spoke with pastor joseph park here, kris. he tells us the biggest concern is not with catching the thief but, rather, reassuring his congregation that their place of worship is safe and they'll do a better job of protecting the sunday collection. pastor park has a message for the thief, if you needed the money that badly, why didn't you ask us for help. >> we wanted to help him if he asked for it, but the way he approached it was not right. >> reporter: where was it when this man -- the pastor tells us the thief attended sunday's korean service. he worshipped with him and the other 100 members of the congregation for almost 90 minutes. around 1:00, towards the end of the service, the man approached the collection bag sitting on top of a plastic stand in the front of the church. one witness says he pretended to donate some money and then grabbed the bag and theft. they believe the man stole thousands of dollars needed to pay for staff, overseas missionary work and feeding the homeless. >> we're just trying to process what just

in sunnyvale, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> parents would like to know. thank you, kris. >>> developing story, in trouble with the law and cut from the team. the 49ers announced they are releasing bruce miller just hours after an arrest yesterday. that arrest in san francisco and the moments right after an alleged attack caught on camera. security video from the travel lodge here in fisherman's wharf shows a bloody and stumbling miller about 3:00 in the morning. police say he wandered over to the motel after assaulting a 29-year-old man and his 70-year-old father at the marriott across the street. the assault happened when one of the men opened their door to tell miller that he had the wrong room. that's when other guests say they were startled awake by a man yelling in the hallway. >> i was afraid. i think it was an attack or something like that. >> the alleged assault happened hours after miller posted a picture on instagram saying, sundays are for the boys. he's now out on bail. we knocked on his door in santa clara but we're told no one is interested

kris? >> reporter: good morning. that suspect is still in jail here behind me but he will make the short walk over to the courtroom where he will once again face a judge today. yesterday michael james lee lewis did not enter a plea when he was in court but did mouth the words "help me" to his family violating the court rule to only communicate with a judge or his lawyer. lewis will need more than his family's help as he faces four charges of attempted murder because when police got a war ant to search his home they found a gun and bullets that the crime lab linked to four of the ten shootings on blossom hill. lewis was arrested in mid august and has prior convictions for assault and theft. while there have not been any additional shootings along blossom hill while he has been in custody and in fact since august 5th, police have not said specifically that they believe he's the only shooter involved. in san jose, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> thank you, kris. >>> former san francisco 49er bruce miller is expecte

>> good morning, kris.t was the fourth game in a row that colin kaepernick refused to stand during the national anthem. he took that knee in respect to the veterans that were at the game. just all the people that have been critiquing him. we have that video of him take that knee and you don't see him there but he was joined by fellow 49er and pro bowl safety eric reid who was a very popular member of the team. and in oakland, you had seattle seahawks cornerback jeremy lane sitting down on the bench during the national anthem. as i mentioned, kaepernick's to kneel and sit on the bench was more for veterans. a green beret who recently tried out ironically for the seattle seahawks but was released. now, those two men embraced following the anthem. now, the point of all this, of kap's protest is to bring attention to what he considers the on going oppression of minorities in this country. kaepernick spoke at length afterwards about his actions. >> i'm not anti-american. i love america. i love people, that's why

good morning kris and sam. one of the men allegedly behind this violent attack on monday is now here in the santa clara jail in downtown san jose. deputies arrested this man, 19-year-old zachary cuen for the attack on 88-year-old flo douglas. it was on monday deputies tell us that cuen and possibly another man broke into douglas' home in east san jose, beat her and stole her belongings. douglas is now in the hospital in critical condition. as you can imagine, this is very frightening for the other people who live in douglas' neighborhood. last night as many neighbors met with law enforcement, the sheriff's department reminding them about the important of neighborhood watch and being aware of any suspicious activity. >> we've got to keep an eye out for each other. >> it's about how to watch your back, especially how to take care of the elders. >> reporter: one woman at last night's meeting believes she saw zachary cuen casing cars before monday's attack. cuen also was arrested for robbing another elderly woman.
