more breaking news, news4's kristin wright on the scene of a fire at a building at george washington university. kristin, any evacuations there? >> reporter: that's right. there was a fire this morning at fulbright hall. it's a dormitory i'm told for sophomore students. you can see students here at the front door just now going back into the building after being evacuated at about 3:30 this morning. about 250 sophomores live in this building. the fire started we're told just a couple of hours ago. up on the roof. it started up on the roof area. firefighters were able to contain the flames to the roof of the building. we are told this building was just redone a couple of years ago in 2013. they are three-person dormitories. fire again contained to the roof. everybody okay which is a big thing. firefighters told me this morning that everybody is okay. they were able to get everybody out quickly. we talked to a few of the students here who said they heard the fire alarm go off all of a sudden in the middle of the night and they all had to come down the stairs and make sure that everybody

kristin wright is live at the zoo. kristin, what do we know about this? >> reporter: this is going to be interesting. first and foremost, it's not going to be normal at the zoo. there will be some restrictions. we'll get to that. the first lady michelle obama and the first lady of china visiting the panda site. a longstanding collaboration and conservation between u.s. and china. so these days everybody is talking about the cute little panda cub. we just got word from the zoo the pap da cub is doing just fine, nearly three pounds now. they're native to china. mei xiang and the male giant begans with born there. the new panda cub will also be going to china when he is 4. so we don't know what this announcement is. maybe one of the pandas is going to stay at the zoo a little bit longer. we don't know. the pedestrian entrance on connecticut avenue to the zoo is going to be closed until noon as well as the giant began habitat. that will be closed to noon. so keep that in mind. we'll let you know what the announcement is as soon as we find out. back to you. >>

kristin wright is on the scene with more information. kristin. >> reporter: yes, that's right. three people shot overnight, and one of them dead. those evidence markers that are still here right now. you can see, we counted about 25 of them. we're not sure if those are shelt ca shell casings or not. certainly, a lot of evidence markers a lot for detectives to do this morning. some five hours after this happened. if you look beyond the evidence markers, you see a car back there and its driver's side door open. we feel that might be part of the investigation. there are some evidence markers near that car. the shooting happened this morning at 12:30. the detectives had been out here all night long working on collecting evidence. officers got here and found a woman and two men, with gunshot wounds. one of the men died here. the other man and woman were taken to the hospital in critical condition. what exactly happened and why, we just don't know at this point. police don't have anybody in custody. they haven't arrested anyone. they have not named any suspects, so we're following it
