breaking news, l.a. time says police sources told them that tiger woods was driving his car northbound coming out of rancho palos verde going towards the rolling hill estates and was at a high rate of speed. their sources said that tiger woods lost control of the vehicle before he got to that median. we have seen many times the pictures of the median where the sign, the rolling hills estate scene was taken out. investigators saying the car rolled a few times before ended up where you see it there now. remember, there's a picture about maybe 50 yards down the road of the license plate. the license plate fell off. there's fluid from the car all over the road. an indicator that when he hit that median, that in fact it did severe damage to the undercar ridge of the vehicle and then rolled and very luckily he did not hit some of these nearby telephone polls. though he did as you can see take out several small trees. there's been some clarification, neil. you pointed to it. there was no jaws of life system use

our partners at l.a. county fire were able to extricate him from the vehicle, and they put him on to a backboard. when i arrived on scene, mr. woods was seated in the driver's seat. i made contact with him, and i insured that he was able to speak to me. at that time, he seemed as though he was still calm and lucid. i made the determination it would be safer to wait for l.a. county fire to remove him instead of trying to remove him myself. i kept mr. woods calm until l.a. county fire arrived on the scene. >> what did you do to keep him calm, deputy? >> i spoke to him. >> the conversation can you share with us? >> i asked him what his name was. he said his name was tiger. i recognized him. i asked him if he knew where he was, what time of day just to make sure he was oriented. he seemed as though he was lucid and calm. >> was he concerned about his injuries? >> he didn't seem concerned of his injuries at the time, which is not uncommon in traffic collisions. many times people tend to be in shock. it's a tra

and like i said, l.a. has been hit hard, but not every part of l.a. has been hit that hard. zoom out on that map, and you can see that lynwood there, the darker color purple is the greater percentage of population that has been infected. as you can see, not every part of l.a. is purple, is in the worst state. take beverly hills, one of the richest parts of l.a., and quite famous for it, average income there is north of $100,000, double what it is in lynwood. compared to the roughly one in every 400 people who died of covid in that south l.a. neighborhood of lynwood, in beverly hills it's not one in 100, it's one in 15 people who have died of covid. in brentwood, compared to one in every 400 people who died in lynwood, in brentwood it's one in 3,000 people who have died of covid. just very, very stark differences. and this is the rule, not the exception. the splotches of purple on the map, the areas hit hardest, are predominantly poor communities of color made up of people who are getting sick and dying at a higher rate than anywhere else in l.a. obviously this is not just a
