. >> i'm lesli foster. the violent situation has another community in a tense situation right now, residents near the 600 block of 18th street northeast in the brookland neighborhood have been in lockdown all day and it's not over yet. our ileana diaz is still out on the scene. what are you seeing and hearing? tell us more. >> reporter: yeah. if you look behind me here, you can season it's still an active scene behind -- see it's still an active scene behind these flashing lights and at this hour we are still hearing that the man is still barricaded inside. he first went into his home around 11 a.m. and that's when we were told that there were some shots fired. the d.c. police chief later confirmed to us then that the man that is inside allegedly shot and killed one of his family members. we're not exactly quite sure how these two are related, but the police chief did say that they are investigating this homicide. this is now the 99th homicide. after speaking to several people in the area what neighbors are
