lisa: st. louis fed president jim bullard keeping a close eye on the yield curve, telling bloomberg he is not shrugging off the inversion. have a recession prediction model, it will use the yield curve to predict that. our job is to get the yield inverted, soun- those recession models probably do not work anymore. testing interested in somebody stare about this time is different about the yield curve. does jim, how many times the fed have to cut to avoid a yield curve inversion? jim: it depends part of the curve you are talking about. lisa: let's say 2/10. >> 25. more than that, they would have to do 50 or more. lisa: luke? luke: at the moment, that is difficult to say. the market is really pricing in, moving toward recessionary probabilities being very high. what they do now may not change that yield curve move in the short-term. times if they cut four before the end of the year, we could still be inverted. because the market would panic, what does the fed know that we don't? lisa: luke is sug

lisa: what about emerging markets? ishas been a tension that building up where you have the theand a cutting cycle and ecb about to start their own easing process. usually that is good for emerging markets. is this time different? kevin: it is always different. i think that is the problem. the dollar itself. em would be attractive and a weaker dollar scenario which would tie into what the fed, with their rate cutting will be. it still cannot get away from the fact that it is the world's best currency and a raising us is running to the bottom faster. the strength of the dollar is hindering a good investment in a.m. even with the fed rate cuts possible over the next three months. lisa: do you see an opportunity for em given that central banks are dead set on having inflation growth? >> one of the challenges for the dollar is that it is the reserve currency of choice even more so now with the global growth situation. we don't think the fed is acting quick enough to pummel the dollar in the secondary factor. when we think

lisa: is that possible? you just described this tribal nature of politics were people just want to see the jersey the other side is wearing, so how do the senate candidates and republican incumbents divorce themselves from some of the rhetoric or policies? steven: i don't know they need to divorce themselves from the president, but it is important they talk about who they are. the mistake one might make is to assume you can only ride on the coattails. in a state like alabama for , example, where we know the president will win by a colossal margin. i think it would be a mistake for whoever our nominee is to ride those coattails and assume they are going to win. again, voters make a unique decision about senate elections that is separate from how they view the presidential race. i think that the house is much more impacted by those large-scale trends because you don't get to know the house candidates nearly as well, but it will be important for the candidates to tell the story. now, in any given state, if the

lisa: yeah, i think that's right. i think the interesting points, one, the amount of money they will be raising for the senate seats. again, a lot of money. when you look at that map, they are really concerned about the states where republicans are now senators and they're trying to hold onto those seats. there is not a lot of pickup opportunities out there for democrats, other than the alabama seat. he made mention of michigan seat but we don't really have a candidate there. republican senators in colorado, north carolina, arizona, are needing to defend those seats and as the guest told us, it doesn't look like they can depend a lot on the coattails of the president. the president is not necessarily popular in the states and while they certainly will be able to enjoy some support from president trump's backers, they need to chart their own way at a time when the senate isn't doing a lot of legislating. the senate is really stopping the democratic agenda coming over from the house, and so the senators running for reel

lisa is here with a look at our forecast. good morning, lisa. >> good morning, kumasi.ere is a look at live doppler 7 where it looks like we have our usual drill with the low clouds and fog, except that this marine layer is pretty compressed. it is a little over 500 feet, and we are going to look at this disappear quickly. the winds are light, but out by the delta, past into clayton, we have a bit of a south brees. right now, 60-degree temperature, 85% relative humidity. this is where the multiple vegetation fires are. so with the light winds, a bit of a gust to about 8 miles per hour, drifting a bit to the north, some of this smoke and the winds in and around this air at the most start about 15 to 17 miles per hour. as we look at the fog here, it is a shallow deck. so where we have it, it is dense. the cool marine air not reaching to our inland east bay. the coolest temperatures you will have are right now, in and around 60 degrees, because it is a quick warm-up. in fact, down the road it is warmer in oakland at 62. in the low 60s in san jose. we still have cool number
