marcus washington will join us in the next hour. in honor of radar we're wearing rainfall green. >> it's nice to see the rain moving through this morning. we are going to see still some scattered showers moving through, most of it's been pretty light for us. we have storm ranger all over it, while we're starting to see some clearing in parts of the north bay, this is a slow-moving system and over the next several hours, we'll see it moving off towards the south and east, and gradually tapering off as we go into today. there still will be some rain chances in the forecast as we could see some spotty showers in the forecast through tomorrow, but warming up as we go into the weekend, so we'll talk more about this, take a look at that, how much rain we've measured already coming up in a few minutes. mike, what's going on with this wet morning commute? >> kari, we've got the rain-soaked hillsides and the roadways. a little reports of flooding in oakland where we look at the camera near the coliseum facing north the mist and the low cloud

"today in the bay's" ian cull has a closer look. >> reporter: california has had among the strictest lockdowns in the country. >> we are announcing and introducing a regional stay-at-home order. >> reporter: compared to florida, where there's video after video of little mask wearing and a push to keep as much open as possible. >> we've lifted our state up. we saved our economy. >> reporter: but in the last few weeks both are seeing similar improvements, when you look at case numbers. about a month ago, california peaked at 56 hospitalizations per 100,000 residents. florida peaked at 35. now they're similar. as for total covid cases, california has about 8,600 per 100,000 people, florida about 8,400. florida was hit harder per capita during the first spike they're pretty similar considering california's population is nearly

"today in the bay's" marcus washington, more on how the family is dealing with that loss. ine, marcus. >> yes, but we know it's been tough for that family, and for the first time, patricia's daughter is speaking out about the toll her mother's death took on her as well as what the pandemic has done to their entire family. our own ian cull sat down with her daughter as well as patricia's sister to talk about all of this. it was socially distant and in a room that was ventilated. they called her trish and she started feeling ill the day before last year's super bowl. days later, february 6th while working at home alone she collapsed and died. the coroner said it was a heart attack but they asked for an autopsy. stunned that what could have taken this 57-year-old woman they described as fit, healthy and fiery. after tests in mid-april, the of covid-19 complications.she w first person. i was like, i don't think she was. i think someone had it before her, like this can't be happening to my family. >> the family still doesn't know how she got it. in january of this year, then pre

i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington.nchez is live at levi's stadium this morning. levi's has vaccines for now but not necessarily the case in san francisco. >> reporter: yes. i'm at the santa clara county fairgrounds because i wanted to tell you what happened here over the weekend. the county had to give away some doses because they were going to expire because people had appointments and just didn't bother to show up. so about 300 of those doses thawed out and set aside for health care workers and those 65 and older were going to expire, the county notified anyone over 65 and notified any county worker who could show up, the good news no dose was wasted. san francisco has delivered more than 151,000 doses, nearly half of the over 65 population has at least one shot, but now mass vaccination site at the moscone center has to shut down until at least february 22nd because the health department isn't getting enough doses. the city college site will reopen friday but just for second doses. the head of san francisco's emerge
