(matt) ktiv's tiffany lane was on the tiffany? matt and sheila, the wayne county sheriff's office, and the f-a-a, were at the rural corn field this morning to small plane. the plane was a single engine cessna, which looked just like this one. the wreckage was found overnight. << the small plane took off from columbia, missouri and was headed to sioux city. but airport officials diverted the flight because of bad weather. "i got a call to be looking for a plane landing here at the wayne airport and this was approximately seven p.m. last night," "and we did a search here at the airport runways and everything. we did not find the plane and it did not show up here." crews searched the area between pender and concord for the missing plane overnight. "the plane was headed to the wayne municipal airport," "but instead, crashed in this corn field behind me. the wreckage was found around 1:30 this m

(matt) the manhunt started early today as the suspect, 25- year-old david hoffman, of santee, nebraska, escaped police custody. as he e made his escape investigators say hoffman grabbed the officer's gun. when he was last seen, hoffman was on foot. as a precaution authorities put the niobrara state park on lockdown. they also locked down schools in the niobrara school district late this afternoon, the nebraska state patrol was escorting children, and teachers, to their cars after school was dismissed. a message over the school intercom advised everyone to stay in their homes for night as the manhunt continues. the knox county sheriff says hoffman is a native american male, measuring 5-feet, 10-inches tall, weighing 150-pounds. he has a tattoo on his adam's apple. hofofan was last seen weang a sweatshirt, and dark pants. if you have any information about hoffman's whereabouts,

(matt) today, the city council decided to delay a final decision on the pool committee's recommendati on. if that plan had been approved. leeds and cook pools would close after the 2016 season. both facilities would be replaced with a splash pad. riverside would stay the same. lewis pool would close after a new aquatic center is built in morningside. leif erikson would remain open until the pool is no longer operational. at that time it would be replaced with a splash pad. sioux city's parks and rec director says he understands the council's decision. (matt) more than 50,000 students, in 80 counties across iowa, took part in the iowa youth presidential straw poll, today. on the democratic side, vermont senator bernie sanders bested hillary clinton and martin o'malley. sanders earned 53- percent support of students from kindergarten to 12th grade. among the republican candidates, the students favored businessman donald trump by six points over senator marco rubio, and dr. ben carson. senator ted cruz came in fourth followed by jeb bush and carly fiorina. among the students that took part were kids at sunnyside elementary school in sioux city. students signed in at the check-in booths, and then made their way to the voting booths where they chose one candidate from each party. their votes came after a week of class discussion on candidates. that's where they decided who they liked, and who they didn't. i'm robert lowe in for matt breen and sheila while most of the snowfall is let's toss it over to chief meteorologist ron demers to see what we can expect this weekend. the majority of communities in siouxland did end up seeing the 2-4 inches of snow that was expected and here in sioux city our official total is 3.6 inches. the light snow will move off to the east tonight and colder air is already filtering in behind this system. expect temps to hover only around 10 degrees on saturda and with a strong northwest wind as the snow starts to slow down, the streets need to be cleaned up. the snow may have moved out of siouxland, but clean up efforts continue tonight. the problem is the side streets and neighborhood roads remain snow packed. but snow plows are working all day to get that heavy snow off the roads. the temperatures will be dropping so be sure to allow yourself extra time if you're going to be driving tonight. things weren't much different in south dakota where roads were slick for drivers as about three inches of snow fell. with the temperatures dropping into the single digits

(matt) 25-year-old braden joplin died at an omaha hsopital from with injuries suffered in a car accident, along interstate 80, in cass county. carson was in south carolina at the time of this morning's accident. a campaign spokesman says the van carrying joplin, two other carson volunteers, and a paidid staffer, flipped onto its side in the eastbound lanes of i-80, and was hit by another vehicle. (sheila) a wanted suspect is in critical condition, tonight, after he shot himself while being apprehended by federal and tribal officials on the santee sioux indian reservation. (matt) an fbi spokesperson says the male suspect was armed at the time. he refused to surrender peacefully, and allegedly shot himself. the fbi didn't identify the in omaha, nebraska, told ktiv, this afternoon, that a man wanted by police was involved in an incident on the santee sioux reservation, today. 25-year-old david hoffman has been on the run, in northeast nebraska, since tuesday afternoon. that's when he stole a niobrara, nebraska police officer's weapon as the officer tried to arrest him for burglary and theft. he took off on foot. the nebraska state patrol and other agencies joined the search for hoffman as niobrara schools a a some businesses were locked down. officers searched cabins and other buildings at niobrara state park, but there was no sign of hoffman. niobrara state park reopened this mor
