this is all coming from the mbta fiscal control board. they voted to allow hike up to 10% every two years. some state lawmakers are vowing to fight that saying the law on the books is for hikes every two years with the hike maxing out at 5%. even with the 5% hike the mbta is looking at $242 million budget gap next year. a big reason for that is all the money they are paying out in salaries and overtime. are making 100,000 or more. rail operator make 30% more than the national average and bus operator make 50% more than a national average. and the most extreme example a maintenance foremen made 315,000 he was able to more than triple his base salary because of back pay owed him and working 2,648 overtime hour. a big reason for all of that overtime pay was the record breaking snowfall that happened last year. but now some people are asking for an audit saying the numbers seem way too high. we should know in the new year a little bit more information about the exact amount of any proposed fare hikes. in boston, victoria warren, 7news "today
