cnn's nick valencia live in memphis. is a scary, scary site when you look at those pictures, john. yesterday we heard that 911 call. let's make no mistake about this and make it very clear. it's a major artery for u.s. transportation. it's not just affecting memphis. it could cause problems across the united states. it was discovered by engineers. it's not clear how long that crack has been there. i just got off the phone with the chief engineer here for the state of tennessee. he said potentially it could have been there for weeks. no one knows what caused it. the going speculation is this is caused by fatigue. it's a heavy route. 20% to 30% of the vehicles that cross the bridge every day are big freight trucks. that could have caused it. it's also potential during the welding of this bridge when it was created back in the 1970s, that's also being looked into. this has caused a major, major disruption for traffic. barge river traffic has been shut down. and the timing of this, it's coincidental. but it comes at a time w
