. >> mike: let's talk specifically the coal mining industry. devastatedve been tiv in your state. 2,000 people have lost jobs just in west virginia. no real likelihood a lot of those jobs is going to come back. what has been the sing the greatest hit to the coal industry the last few you years? >> i have been involved in the coal industry for 30 years. you had natural gas and coal and gone back and forth with price but never had the government in the middle of the equation like they are now. common sense regulation is one thing. what is going on especially from the epa and mr. obama and joe biden's attack on coal is totally over the top. i mean reality has left the equation. we have to get common sense back and get people that understand we have abundant natural resources in our are country. especially west virginia. we are the saudi arabia of our country but need to utilize the resources in a responsible manner. we have lost almost 3,000 jobs, direct coal mining jobs this year and translates into almost 20,000 job overall around you go to sout

. >> so clearly you agree here, mike. let's talk about mike's strategy. he is simply buying a call. this is about as simple as it gets. let's hit the play book again. this is a bullish strategy. when you buy a call you want the stock to rise above the strike of that call by more than the cost of the trade. that's all it takes. >> i just want to buy the 75 strike call. i think i could see the market move around. i wanted to take advantage and lever that trade a little bit. that's why i am looking at an outright call purchase. i'm not risking a big deal. >> that's what we want. less risk more reward. >> you can't argue with a call purchase especially as we enter september and people are thinking that we get a bit more volatile at the end of the day. i would just take a little issue with a name like boeing. when i look at like coke recently. more ris, phillip morris has sold off a bit. i see these as potential canaries in the coal mine. >> i agree that that is not the place to be. >> i like the company with mike but i hate the stock. they had a bunch of 787s i just don't think that the

what would you do, mike?> actually i'm not going to sit here and make myself feel good about this trade. this turned out to be pretty lousy and there are a couple of reasons we don't want this any more. we felt comfortable doing it because there was a bid for the company in hand and they said they had the financing. then they came out and said it was a 75% debt deal. they haven't done since before the credit crisis. then they appoint a new ceo then they stopped the buy back. i'm not sure where the bottom is in the stock and maybe we found it but i'm not interesting in finding out. a lot of the things that gave me conviction are now gone. sometimes we have to own up that we made a bad choice. i made a bad choice and i'm going to cover the puts. >> you look shocked. >> you want to lay down here? you want to talk about this? you seem all busted up. a funny thing. for them to announce a new ceo and give the horrible earnings that they did, you know, i don't know how you expect to fend off a hostile bid that way.

mike, what's the trade? >> i am looking at buying the november 60 puts and selling the 52.5 strike puts for $1.10 a piece. my net deb debit, i make the most profit at 52.5 bucks. if it declines too much more, i could own the stock at about 56.5 bucks. that is a pretty significant to where we are right now. >> in this environment, do you want to be short that extra put? >> i don't. to me, here is one thing, i can't agree with these guys more. china is a big fwroet air ya r ya for them. >> marginal? i absolutely agree. a great point earlier. talking about the ecb and other monetary policy. being a put to the marngt. it was something we were talking about to the desdk today. who wants to go out and buy insurance when the central banks are already providing you something for nothing. that combined with the fact that we have not seen significant decline in revenue will protect it. >> in general, you make the most money when the market goes to a short strike. we talk about how put spreads can make the math work fo

, mike? >> well, i don't think it's an issue he's ever going to yet unquote win but i think he can narrow the gap. i think he did some of it in the convention program with the staples founder with his old partner bob white. but the argument i want to hear about bain to close the gap is that mitt romney was hired to manage other people's money including endowments and union and pension funds and he did a good job. people trusted him with money that was very important. if you run into burning buildings for 30 years you want that pension check to be there and mitt was that guy. campaign about billion elect mitt romney, i don't believe it will but there's a bain story they're starting to tell now. i think they're late that will help him. i don't think people understand bain and there's more imlaition about it that would be helpful. >> rose: the issue isn't whether it helps him but if it hurts him because of the attacks by the obama team. >> they could take the edge by filling in the bain picture
