northeastern section of milpitas.y have a terrific nine mile trail there that takes five hours to conquer. pretty rigorous, but nonetheless a great day for out and about. no matter what you have planned today. our storm tracker does illustrate when you see the glitch there. that's because we can't pick up any pictures when the sun goes down, right? so the sun came up at 742 and voila! there you have it. we have the intrusion of that marine layer inland. a good 60 miles to the east. and also to the north and to the south. but you see, by 3:00 this afternoon it just hangs tight to the coast. we'll call it partly cloudy there today. and then the clouds push back on shore overnight. and in fact, this marine layer is going to deepen and will wake up to more concentrated areas of drizzle. now meanwhile, temperatures, because of the cap of the cloud cover, the temperatures have been pretty steady all morning in the 50s. around the peninsula, we're up to 61 now in concord. otherwise 62 degrees in willow glen backing through s

clara county vector control says it's been spraying for mosquitoes recently in both san jose and milpitas along with some other unincorporated areas of the county. west nile virus is a mosquito-borne disease that causes mild to severe flu-like symptoms. and this includes fevers, headaches, body aches and in some cases neurological symptoms or even death. san mateo county officials recently found a bird that they said had the virus and are now warning people of how to stay safe. take a look at your screen. these are some of those tips. they say you want to make sure you're dumping any standing water. and that includes in places like flowerpot bird baths or even some of those gutters. remember to report any mosquito bites that you're getting, especially if you're getting them off it and try to use insect repellent during those early morning hours and maybe for going for those late night walks. lastly, they say to report any dead birds in your area that you may be seeing is that may be a sign that the virus is in the area. again, the risk of serious illness is low for most in recovery. for m

as we take a look at our highs for today, we're ranging from low 80s in milpitas to upper 90s in the south county today. so you're going to feel that heat in some spots and even reaching 100 degrees in antioch and we're also going to see upper 90s away from the bay in the east bay in hayward, 81 degrees and near the coast. we're in the mid 60s in san francisco. it's in the low 70s downtown, and for the north bay it will be up to 100 degrees farther north. while much of the spots like napa and sonoma in the low 90s. so we'll talk about some slightly lower temperatures for the end of the week coming up. and, mike, you're saying the real backup is on. yeah, different than the first couple of starts we had with a disabled vehicle causing unusual slowing over on the left side. the hov lanes even had a period of slowing, but they've all cleared out toward their normal pattern. now you notice all lanes are building toward the back of the parking lot. the good news is that the berkeley curve shows a pretty easy volume for a tuesday. still smooth. move over toward the bay bridge or down 880.
