seema mody looking at another sector on the ropes, the small caps. russell taking a hit today as well. >> market experts have become increasingly cautious when it comes to small cap index, which is under pressure today. the main concern, valuation. small caps, big price tags. this point, it's difficult to find value. while barry nann points out a majority of the stocks in russell 2000 are domestically oriented named that have already priced in recov of the u.s. economy, leaving no more room to run. outpacing gains on the s&p 500 over the past year, up 26%. helped by biotech stars, intercept, both up triple digits this year. getting whacked today, as the biotech trade gets unwound. it's not just fundamental experts raising a red flag. the chief market technician says russell 2000 trading 41% above 200-moving week average. last time it traded this high before the dotcom bubble burst. it's not just investors in small cap names that about the russell 2000. it's a leading indicator for the broader markets. we'll keep an eye on the russell 2000. >> it's an

seema mody on why investors should be cautious when investing in this. >> tyler, the first red flag to look for according to experts is the strong performance of some recent ipos despite the companies being unprofitable at the time of their ipo announcement. s&p capital iq says introwest resorts, and castlight health fit into this. second the recent volatility in the biotech category. now, the 54 companies that have gone public this year, only 13 are trading below their offer price and seven of those are from the biotech and pharma space. lastly it's the huge opening returns of tech ipos have made some investors nervous. while seeing a 22% first-day drop. tech ipos have been averages a pop. experts say be cautious. names that have moved up so fast have farther room to fall. >> well, that is always the case with those ipos. sexy at the start, but they can catch you. seema, thank you. all right, sue, down to you. >> let's go to chicago, because rick santelli is back in the aftermarket to talk about that two-year note auction and how things are going right now. ricky? >> yeah, two-year no

for the rest of that and the news before the bell we'll turn to seema mody live at cnbc world head quarpters. good morning. >> that's right. traders awaiting the jobs report out before the opening bell. traders setting the bar low as they expect hiring was again impacted by winter weather last month. forecast calls for companies to have added 152,000 jobs last month and unemployment to tick down to 6.5% in terms of how we ended yesterday the dow in the green t nasdaq slipping by 5, companies underperforming yesterday. americans household wealth jumped $10 trillion. that's due to booming stock market and rising home values. household wealth measures real estate, stocks, bank accounts and other assets minus mortgages, credit cards and other debt. the irs says the average tax refund this year is more than $3,000, survey shows most americans plan to use that to pay down dent. younger people are likely to spend on shopping or going out. more people are doing their own taxes and efiling this year. >> you know it's funny when i do my own taxes i get a refund of like $50 million. i know it's great.

the nasdaq is the five worst performing stocks all momentum names, seema mody is at the nasdaq with more. >> we continue to see a lot of volatility in these momentum names. take a look at the screen. mixed session for those stocks. we were solidly in the green but now those gains are fading. keep in mind many of these stocks are still trading well below their 52 week highs, down double digits over the past one month. that's what has resulted in the nasdaq underperforming the major indexes. in terms of what caused the sell-off in these momentum names, brian marshall at isi telling me there has been this shift in sentiment from growth to value in the technology space. on that note, old school tech names have in fact been gaining ground. they are not the sexiest names but hp, intel, oracle, ciscos of the world are up over the past month. experts also say this rotation into value oriented tech names could be a trend to watch going forward. out of this basket of old school tech names, the highest percentage of analysts have buy ratings on cisco. that data according to fax set but it's not the

seema mody is on the short watch today. but we start with dominic and the pair trade. take me through it. >> all right. just because two companies do roughly the same kind of thing, it doesn't necessarily mean their stocks will move in the same direction. when these stocks diverge, you can possibly make money. google, yahoo! both internet companies. say you had the foresight to short yahoo! shares at the beginning of the year, use the money you got and bought shares of google. you would have a winner on both legs of that pair trade. yahoo! has dropped about call it 7% so a short trade is a winner there for you. the shares that you bought in google are up nearly 6% and analysts think that trade may still have legs. while analysts are about evenly split on the buy versus hold debate for yahoo! they slapped a $41.50 price target on it so there is a little bit of upside. four out of five analysts who cover google say buy. they say buy it outright. 80% of analysts, their target price is $13.28, 12% higher than current levels. google is still showing it has the ability to fi
