let's go to gerri willis on the floor of the new york stock exchange. what happened with this one, gerry? reporter: there is a negative feedback loop going on, melissa and let me describe this to you. basically what happened, lyft came out as you below and trading where it is expected to be, below its offer. look at lyft's shares. they're down almost heaven% today. that led uber the big kahuna on the block, right, to reduce its valuation from 120 billion originally from 90 to 100 billion, brought that down. lyft shares trade lower. as you can see here down 7%. i have to tell you everybody has big expectations for uber down here the it is expected to be the year's biggest ipo. it will be among the world's top 10 biggest ipos. tomorrow as we get the details, what investors are looking for is ride-sharing metrics. want to compare this to lyft. lyft has 39% of the market. uber is the market leader. how do they stack up? we'll look for all the details in the filings with securities & exchange commission but for right now these two companies are trading off e

she is at the new york stock exchange. gerri? reporter: charles, you got that right.t has been very exciting down here. we followed pinterest over here watching this company come public this ipo market coming hot there were two ipos at that position today, two of them the pinterest, the stock up 27%. you remember last night they were priced at 19. they're now 24 and change. what is interesting about this, 250 million active users, revenues of 750 million. they were up 60% year-over-year on that top line. no profits yet but their profit loss is narrowing. it is getting small letter pretty significantly so by 8 to 14% quarter over quarter according to the s-1. uptown at the nasdaq zoom coming public too. that is videoconferencing software company. their shares on fire, 78% pop. this is amazing move. they were priced at 36. they are now on fire. they value the company at some 10 billion. these companies are raising a lot of money in the capital markets. you got to think about the ipo market, how long can it stay this strong? i posed that question to stacy cunningham the

ellen: it seems like slack is preparing to list on the new york stock exchange probably june or july,ut we never really know how it will happen until it does. ipo, thetraditional --ect listing is no thing to it is just current shareholders have the ability to sell. emily: employees can sell right away. ellen: very different for a lot of employees were waiting for the ipo moment to realize the value they have made in their equity. emily: what is the motivation? ellen: it is different with every company. works well with companies that have a few things going for them. if they have cash on hand which side is, and if they don't need publicity, af household name -- broad range of consumer service, slack a little bit, more business focused but something many people have exposure to. they know it, like it. they don't need to raise additional capital and don't need to do the marketing associated with ipo. they can do this instead which tends to be favorable if you meet qualifications. everyone has said slack is in a good position to do this. other companies that have been potential direct lis
