we always get them in the north bay. we always get those systems, they work diagonally across the bay area and that's what's happening this morning. a preview via our futurecast. taking you through wednesday, we need the rain. it's a promising sight, what we have in store for the next few days. not just talking about rain today, tomorrow, friday into saturday. talking about rain continuing potentially into wednesday of next week. so, this is basically our last month to take a chip out of the deficit we're running in terms of rainfall totals. the state needs water, as you know, we are in a drought. 7:00 a.m., you can see, that's going to be active. as mike tells you, that's when things pick up around the bay area. keep in mind, if you leave early today, you will be benefiting greatly. 9:00 a.m., wednesday, you can see we're talking about heavy downpours as we finish off the rush hour. 3:00, starting to lighten up with another wave of moisture as we head into thursday, friday, and then the main event arrives on saturday. i'

here's a look at san jose where you can see the cloudy skies, 55 up in the north bay, with concord ande picked up a couple 0.01 here and there this morning and half moon bay down to three-quarters of a mile and november toe one-mile visibility and delays at sfo. breezy winds in higher8?ugíiy7ñ it's raining in mt. shasta so this is a moist air mass that brings pretty mild conditions all the way as well. so scattered showers throughout the day today and we'll see them for the next couple of days, here's y the water vapor imagery shows the cloudiness off the coast and with the moist flow from west to east in the next couple days, and some embedded disturbances, we'll be able to wring out a couple hundredths, maybe a tenth here or there throughout the day not only today but into late tomorrow as well. so we're going to take you through the next several hours, by 5:00 notice just a lot of cloud cover around the bay, into monday the early morning commute, maybe some wet pavement in the north bay. the bulk of the day should be dry but north bay once again coastal hills looking at perhaps some

the forecast for the heaviest rain, going from the north bay late friday into early saturday. across the central bay area between 6:00 and noon on saturday and enthis all the heavy rain should be out of here by 6:00 saturday evening as the rain line hides towards the central coast. this is the progression of the heaviest bout of rain. this is going to come through for saturday morning. and behind that band of showers, as we go through saturday afternoon, wouldn't rule out an isolated thundershower, especially for the north bay hills. that will be saturday afternoon. for tomorrow, south bay looks mainly drive. the main event of the storm impacting us friday into saturday morning. the rain totals pretty impressive. an inch around santa rosa and we think about a third of an inch or more around the south bay. so pretty good system for dropping a lot of rain in the bay area. and a lot of snow in the sierra. we'll be adding it up by the foot as we get into sunday. we'll see snow totals close to 2 to 3 feet in the sierra as we go through saturday night. winter storm watch up for the s

bay area has sky-rocketed. thanks to an oil boom in north dakota and canada. trains are carrying about 2.7 million gallons ever crude oil into the bay every day. state senator jerry hill says that has him worried. he points to an accident in quebec. hill says california could not respond to a disaster of that magnitude. >> it's the response time, and the preparedness that we don't have in california. we're back in about 1980 is where we are prepared for. we can't deal with that volume. >> in 2011 there were 9,000 tank cars filled with oil brought into california from out of state. by 2016 the energy commission says that could reach 200,000 tank cars. 10% would travel through the bay area. the trains are operated by burlington northern sante fe railway and sum through solano and contra costa counties. >> a shipping channel is closed because of a massive oil spill. a barge collided causing 170,000 gallons to spill into galveston bay. these are live pictures. more help is called in to contain the spill and also protect important shore bird habitat near the peak of
