a northern california company made a surprising discovery at the bottom of folsom lake.sea floor systems was test its underwater survey equipment when it spotted the plane about 160 feet underwater. the crew sent a camera down, took pictures of the tail and the propeller. the company hasn't identified the plane but says there was a plane that crashed into the lake more than 50 years ago. never found. crews decided to look for the plane because water levels are so low. and you can blame that of course on the drought. so that's really freaky. jeff ranieri joins us now. and jeff, we've been talking about no rain for so long and suddenly at 6:00 you stunned us with some rain. >> yeah. we've been tracking this since earlier this week, and that storm system finally got here. we knew it was on the way. everything is on track with this thing. no rainfall for the bay area. look at our northern coastline. picked up a half to 1 1/2 inches of rain. it's breaking up a little bit right now but check this out. this weekend we are still expecting additional rainfall to continue with tha

one of the largest fires we are seeing across northern california, this is the lava fire, a lot of the smoke from this fire you can kind of see it there moving off to the north. for now the air pollution associated with these larger fires in northern california is tracking off towards oregon and fires across arizona, some of that is drifting into the south bay and east bay. most of that is above 10,000 feet. as we take you down to ground level views here. most of the bay area, you see the green dots popping up. that's good news. sea breeze and ground level is keeping air quality just fine for now. temperatures will be cooling down and air quality looking pretty good as we head into the middle part of the week. look at all the low clouds and fog, some drizzles, at times where the morning around the coast especially our afternoon highs tomorrow, start to march downward. now we are looking at 70s around san jose and morgan hill and tri-valley was warmer. tomorrow looks like low 80s, closer to pleasanton and dublin. north bay temperatures did jump up in the 80s and 90s. cooling back into t

this also sparked some actual thunderstorms in northern california and in oregon and northern nevada.e will wind the clock back, you can see all these lightning strikes throughout the afternoon and early evening hours. the terrain is just as tender dry as it is around the bay area. this is the last thing they want to see. i checked the organ fire site and it seems like a couple of dozen fires that started as of this lightning. for now, the air-quality forecast around the bay area it remains good through the rest of the work week. but we have to watch the fires are not just what develop in the bay area, but all around us. orange sky day last fall was because of fires in oregon. not really anything in our immediate vicinit. in the short term, just some clouds building in from the coast. temperatures are all around 60 degrees. and those are not going to change a whole lot. clouds will continue to thicken where you can see some reduced visibility. but that should backup by mid to late morning and all the way back toward the coast by mid day with the rest of the fog anticipating to be gone

this cold front brings some rain to far northern california.ortunately, yeah, just not much able to make its way here. high pressure out ahead of that system. so you're stepping outside tonight, sunny and a bit breezy temperatures. pretty nice, though. in the first few hours here, but then cooling off as we get toward 8 o'clock but not really cold outside. looks like as we head toward tomorrow afternoon. very nice numbers back to normal. actually low those temperatures move in the 80's inland. we'll see temperatures in the 70's. a few 80's around the bay in the santa clara valley should be very nice about 80 in san jose 75 in a word, 79 in about about 80 degrees in santa rosa and about 65 degrees in san francisco next few days. everything begins to change temperatures warm up on saturday may be cooling a little bit on sunday and monday. but then here we go. spring coming to an end. this next weekend when you know, we had with a major heat wave. i think that kicks into full gear starting on wednesday, triple digit heat going to take us close to
