they have arrested 21-year-old david jamal wilson of northwest washington. he's been charged with first-degree murder while armed. police say wilson had been staying in the victim's apartment. eleanor triplet makes the short walk from her apartment building to a nearby senior center for breakfast. a trip she often made with howard vennable. this morning it is a walk she must make alone. >> i don't know who could do this to him. he was a nice man. >> reporter: before 7:00 saturday night police got a call of an unconscious man on fuller street in northwest. when officers arrived they found 68-year-old howard venable lying lifeless on the floor. >> somebody said howard was sick or something. then after that we found out that it wasn't that he was sick. that he had been stabbed. >> reporter: late this morning came word of an arrest in the case. residents are relieved, but they continue to mourn for the loss of their friend and neighbor. >> he was a beautiful person. he really was. we're going to miss him. he really had a presence. when he came in, you felt like

much police are searching for a suspect after they say the same woman robbed two banks in northwest washington. there were called to the pnc bank at 9:15 and then the bank of america on connecticut avenue was rob less than 20 minutes later. brianne carter has more. >> we are here in this busy section of connecticut ave. police are still on the scene of one of two of those bank robberies. behind me, you can see the bank is now closed for the day as investigators try to determine exactly what happened. we know that two bags not far from one another were both rob minutes apart from one another. the first one happened in the 4200 block of wisconsin avenue and police were on the scene for several hours and that bank is also closed while investigators look into what happened there. about 15-20 minutes later, a robbery here in the 3400 block at the bank of america along connecticut ave. authorities said a suspect description in both is the same. they are on the lookout for an hispanic woman who is said to the black, curly hair, wearing a dark colored jacket and a bandage on her face. there are differ

floyd corkins shot a security guard inside the conservative lobbying group's building in northwest washington last august. even though he was hit in the arm, the guard helped subdue the gunman before anyone else became injured. corkins told the judge that he carried out the shooting to send a message to those against gay rights. >>> a jury in baltimore just convicted 28-yard michael johnson of killing phylicia barnes. she's the teenager from north carolina who vanished around christmas of 2010. her body was found in the susquehanna river months after she went missing. >>> and we have breaking news from denver. three people, two of them children, have been shot and killed inside a house. a third child was taken to a local hospital. the shooting happened early this morning in the northeast part of town. there are reports that at least three people are still inside that house. homicide detectives are on the scene. >>> the rules on when the government can use drone attacks to kill american citizens aren't as strict as previously believed. cbs news has confirmed that the authenticity of a justice
