ocean city maryland, 74 degrees. the clouds outside should start to thin within the next two, three hours and by mid morning we'll get the sunshine but nice and dry for the day today, maybe a few sprinkles. tomorrow you might be beach bound bridge and you might have to wait until after work to leave. 71 by 11:00 but nice and dry crossing the chesapeake bay bridge and as you get to the beach, looking good. temperatures similar to home with highs only in the mid to upper 70's. water temperature, by the way, 76 degrees. we're going to stay unseasonably cool through all of next week as we round out the month of august and head into early september. temperatures are going to be quite cool this weekend. highs in the upper 70's and we are going to to be predominantly rain-free through tuesday of next week and after that we'll track precipitation that will move in and some of it could be from what is now tropical storm harvey. we'll take a closer look at the impact on the gulf coast and to us closer at home in 10. angela?

right now we're in ocean city, maryland waiting for the bulk of that rain. we do have a light wind here at the moment. we've already seen a little bit of rainfall but not too much at this hour. the two big factors that we're going to be looking at today will be the wind and also rough surf. there is a high wind watch that will be in effect from this morning through the evening looking at the potential for winds up to 40 miles per hour and gusts up to hour. we've heard that the ocean city beach patrol has taken down some lifeguard stands so they don't blow away. the other factor, the rough surf, a high surf advisory all day. you have to watch out for the rip currents along the maryland shoreline. there's a high risk of rip current through at least early tomorrow. what the storm could do if it becomes tropical storm irma we're waiting to see. ocean city police are monitoring this storm along with other emergency services. and from the folks that we've been talking to around here, some are just being cautious. we folk spoke with a guy who was fishing here. he h

. >>> new clues about the death of a vacationer in ocean city, maryland. the story generated a lot of interest. leon harris is here with the latest on the investigation. do we know more toonnight? >> police say that the 30-year-old woman from plano, texas died of suffocation after walking on to the beach ashley o'connor was in maryland but they got separated around 2:00 in the morning. her family contacted police and four hours later her body was found. she was buried with just an arm showing above the sand. the two big questions is did she fall into the hole or did she climb in? and how did that hole get there in the first place? police say they don't know how deep it was but they say the hole was significant. it is possible that she was run over by one of the tractors that comb the beach. her death ruled an accident. >>> tracking a couple of storms out there. storm team 4 radar. we have a couple in parts of our region. a new severe thunderstorm warning this one around the annapolis area. if you are thinking about heading out and have family members drivi

ocean city. visibility is almost zero. a lot worse on the beach. this was supposed to be a bonus week for vacationers for marylanders when classes don't start until after labor day. not much of a bonus looking at that weather. brad bell in the thick of it in ocean city. the biggest concern, brad, is the dangerous surf. >> you know what? there are a lot of concerns. dangerous surf is one of them. back bay flooding is another. this is nothing compared to what is we don't want to suggest that it is. i am feeling the winds and they are coming in 45-mile-per-hour steady with the heaviest gusts. you can see the waves come crashing in here at the inlet jetty. as we pan around we can't look into the wind but as we pan around to the side here i want to show you the waves crashing over the jetty out here. this is an impressive sight indeed. pounding torrential rains in addition to these heavy, heavy winds. we had started to see flooding on some of the low lying streets in ocean city where it is not all that uncommon to see the flooding. now they have closed gates, the storm gates on the boardwalk. i'm going to show you why. it has to do with sand erosion. i pick

ocean city and a.c. and the finally thing i will point out is the additional thunderstorms to the northern and west in maryland that one is probably on its way too. >>> we have sky 6 hd and despite the rain drops there are people on the beach a light rain there, and from you around atlantic city you may want to get off the beach in case the heavier downpour hits and related lightning. 76 is the current temperature in philadelphia. we are stalling because of the rain and thick cloud cover, dew points 72, so it's humid out there. winds light at 76 degrees. 77 in cape may and these numbers hold in place with the rain. and then bounce up a little bit as the rain starts to thin out later in the day. lets go ahead and see what stormtracker 6 live double scan has for us, or future tracker 6 by 3:00 you see that the heavy rain may still be hugging the southern coastline and there are cells around that may in some spots give you a downpour or rumble of thunder. but generally speaking in the afternoon to 6:00 it's less and less rain with swatted shower activity and 9:00 or so it's pretty much done and wet out there for
