p.m. when a surfer lost his high school class ring in the ocean 35 years ago he thought it was gone forever but he just got it back. ktvu's roth spoke with the man who lost the ring and also the man who found it. >> never give up. >> reporter: he never thought he would see his high school rin again. it -- ring again. it has been lost in the pacific ocean for the past 35 years. >> when i saw the ring it was -- joy and -- just -- that this could happen. >> the story begins here in 1979. the 18-year-old went surfing but was wearing more than a wet suit. >> i remember the ring slipping off my finger and into the dark frigid water and going -- that is it. >> reporter: the ring stayed buried till last month. that is when he was trolling the beach with his metal detector. he found this. a gold ring and took a picture of it. >> sand and like rocks. things like that. it was down 8 inches or so. >> reporter: he knew mts stood for the school. it took a lot of detective work but he finally tracked down the ring owner. >> i feel great. you know, the guy like won the lottery for the day. >> reporter: they met yesterday for the first ti

ktvu channel 2 news. >>> police in san francisco are asking for tips from the public in that deadly shooting friday night that left four men dead. it happened about 10:00 p.mriday near the corner of laguna and page streets. that's in the city of hayes valley neighborhood. people have been bringing candles. the men were inside a stolen honda when they were shot. investigators have been putting up signs asking for help from the public to try to track down the assailants. >>> police departments around the world are on high alert tonight after a new threat from isis. also known as the islamic state. the threat comes just days after 17 people were killed in a wave of terror attacks in france. today we learned the gunman involved in one of those attacks at a kosher grocery store devoted his life to isis. the terror group released a video message yesterday calling for its followers to rise up and kill police and its civilians. specifically naming the u.s., france, australia and canada. in france today a massive show of solidarity with the victims of those recent terror attacks. world leaders linked arms as they led more than an estimated 1.6 million people throug
