>> reporter: hey, good morning, sal. if you look behind me, you can see what you were just talking about, the high street bridge. there's a problem earlier. it appears that traffic is moving through here rather smoothly at this time. that's kind of odd because typically there is a residual effect that lasts all morning. especially if you take 880, you know that. the roads did not get opened up in time for the commute. there was this huge backup. here's what it looked like from newschopper2. just about 25 to 30 minutes ago, they finally opened the highway in the northbound direction for all cars to go through. as we were getting here, we were watching the chp do one of those traffic breaks, where they swerve back and forth to tell people behind them not pass. that was going on. i'm being hold by our newsroom that at one point, both directions were stopped. so -- and again, you heard sal mention this work was being done as part of the project they are working on. even though they seal to be making a lot of progress on this

we want to go over to sal.s a crash on the bay bridge. >> that is right westbound bay bridge. it's actually on the incline section. you can see it. there is an injury crash blocking the two left lanes. one of them involves one of the vehicles involved is an ac transit bus. give yourself extra time to get on the bridge. what happens is they switch the metering lights on to extra slow as emergency vehicles arrive and trying their best to get this out of the way. i'm afraid this will be bad news for the bay bridge if you are trying to get into san francisco. this could actually effect your commute for long time because even if they were to get rid of this, the bay bridge toll plaza is very, very slow. it will take awhile to unwind. again two lanes blocked. westbound bay bridge with an injury crash. leave the house early. think about using wart of a different way to get into san francisco from the east bay. let's move along and take a look at it. let's go back to the desk. >> that is a major story. we will get back

let's quickly go to sal and see what's happening on 880. it's slow here as you drive past the coliseum. you will see some slow traffic in case you haven't heard, kwame brown is coming to the warriors, one year, $7 million contract. let's take a look at the westbound bay bridge. it's backed up up for a small delay. it's getting better in san francisco. highway 4 has also improved a little bit. they got rid of the accident also in walnut creek. >>> thank you, sir. a little bit of fog object coast and inland. cold, cold, cold. temperatures continue 20s and 30s. we are still warmer that that -- we're still warmer than this now. 30s and even 44 in san francisco although there are some reading. other than fog, is up, it's a cold pattern for us. the breeze should pick up a littleby. 50s for temperatures. san jose, the warmest. but it won't be very warm. days are just too short now. maybe some rain on thursday. looks like, though, that system that intensifies in southern california will get the wind late friday into saturday. >>> thank you, steve.

back to sal. we've had problems on the road this morning. >> we've had a couple different areas of the bay where we had slow traffic. we will start with the bay bridge where we had an earlier crash involving a motorcycle. the very good news there the motorcycle did fall off his bike but then immediately got back up. i think he was wearing the road gear there. the protective leather and the helmet. got up and after just a little bit of talking road off and now the traffic is moving well on the bridge. but there is a slightly larger than usual backup at the toll plaza because they did have to get people in there to make sure that rider was okay and now that lanes are clear. let's move along and take a look at north and southbound 880. the traffic is moving along pretty well after an earlier crash here past the coliseum. highway four still remains very slow because of a crash that was blocking lanes. they ended up moving it to the shoulder. traffic isbacked up all the way to -- traffic is backed up a

sal. >> all right, pam, good morning to you. i want to mention interstate 880 the areas some road work. northbound 880 there unusually slow approaching the high street the high street area. that is because they are doing some last minute road work. they are reconfiguring the lanes and looking like perhaps they are still causing a delay north and southbound. earlier we had a full freeway closure but those lanes have been reopened. now there is some lanes open here and there. i would say for you to hay void 880 for now and use 580 or get on the freeway after high street. don't go anywhere near high street for now. we will keep on top of this and let you know what is going on. it does look like perhaps they didn't finish in time and we have a bigger backup. let's move along and take a look at westbound bay bridge. that traffic looks good come into the toll plaza. this morning if you are driving in san jose northbound 280 traffic that looks good getting up to highway 17. filling in for steve it's rosemary. >>> good morning, to you.
