spots inland will have at least a 10-degree drop in temperatures today, especially morgan hill, san martin reaching into the upper 60s. wow, this time of year that is almost unheard of. and so we're going to continue to see highs in the upper 60s, low 70s, some low 60s for the coastline, half moon bay reaching 62 degrees. if you do plan to head to the beach over the next few days or even this weekend, make sure you're wearing extra layers and bring some blankets and all of that stuff because it's going to be cool, while some of our inland valleys will have some very mild weather. so we're seeing overall across the region here is the cold front right there, not bringing us any rain, but the showers just to the north and east of the bay area. and then as the cold air continues to pour down, we're also still watching out for the potential of showers, even possibly some thunderstorms for those upper elevations in the sierra. here we're staying dry and some mild weather. take a look at walnut creek. we could see highs in the 60s, and it's going to be fairly cool for this time of year, even thro

air-conditioning on full blast in san martin, reaching 91, as well as in los gatos, and 91 in martinezeaching 90 degrees and mid-70s in san francisco. it's going to be very warm on mother's day along the coastline, san francisco, that's where you'll still have some mild weather. if your weekend plans take you to central valley to visit mom, you're going to have temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. so just be really careful out there and you might want to plan some indoor activities there. we're also going to see high pressure continue as we go into the next several days. but as it moves off farther to the east, we're going to see that heat easing up just a little bit. but along the coastline, our sea surface temperatures, we are seeing slight warming. then we head to the equatorial pacific where we look for large-scale trends, and we're seeing a lot more warming there near the peru and equator coast and ecuador coast. as we head into the next several months, we see the potential for an el nino. we are expecting a moderate event. we've had about 26 events since the 1950s, and it could

gotten three-quarters of an inch of rain and that's going to continue to move toward morgan hill, san martin and gilroy. for the east bay, it's been very steady for parts of the contra costa county area, in areas like concord and moving over toward antioch. there will be breaks in between as well. going into this arch, we could see some thunderstorms popping up, and the highest chance will be over the tri-valley, as well as the east bay. and the rain chances continue even for tonight and may begin to pick up for the coastline and marin county around midnight. we still see the storm system bringing us off and on showers, not everyone seeing the rain at the same time. but it's going to continue to be hit or miss, even into early thursday. between now and then, we could see another inch of rainfall and san jose could pick up a half inch of rain. for the north bay, it may be about a half inch of rainfall or less until this storm system moves out. but it's also going to produce some sierra snow, the possibility of up to a foot of snow in some of the higher elevations, and then another round of so
